You might be right about sosafan bigboy. In the past he's usually just needed a little kick in the rear but I think he might have lost interest for good. I don't really understand what you guys are saying about adding "another one of my friends" but I will try to respect your opinion as much as possible and obviously I pick SSK over an expansion guy if it comes down to it.

What I'm not sure about is why there is a little bit of animosity about this. I want to assure you guys that my intention has always been to make this as competitive and active a league as possible and that by suggesting Kaz's brother that's what I was going for. My thinking was that if we add someone from RealGM I think it's much more of a crapshoot in terms of what type of guy we'd be getting and how active they would be, and also that it would most likely also end up being a guy that most of (myself probably included) haven't interacted much with in the first place. I love running this league and the group of guys we've got but the fantasy forum isn't exactly a hotbed of activity and I think that limits our options.

Another couple things just for arguments sake... It's a few RealGMers and then my friends? 10 out of the 12 of us are born and bred RealGMers and Mauve and Kaz have been as active as anyone in the thread. I'm just sayin'...

I was also thinking that the addition of Kaz's brother would instill more rivalry and competitiveness than most anyone we would find off of RealGM, but that's another argument.

One person that doesn't get a lot of credit is Studcrackers, who got lost in the shuffle with the new guys but has been really active and has taken that team out of the cellar. Adding more guys like Stud would certainly be a good move in my opinion and we'll have to do a little bit of a search to find another guy or two like him I guess.

Well, we need two guys. A replacement for BBJ and one for Sosa.

I have no problem with those two, but if they are interested I would recommend trwi and tsherkin personally. trwi should be a mod and is probably in the handful of people who know the most about baseball on the site including mods and tsherkin probably puts the most into his posts that I've seen on the site. Both have a crapload of posts, which isn't really telling because I only have a few thousand and I'm freaking awesome, but obviously they are into realgm, whatever that means. Of course neither may be interested and I would recommend trying to find out if people are really actually interested in keeping up with a team and not just joining because since they have been asked they think it's cool/have some responsibility to join. Whoever you ask I would see if they have done fantasy in the past or/and are willing to check in to the team at least 3 times a week. Just my 2 cents.

League Notes

* Attention league managers: Playoffs are just around the corner. Don't forget to check your playoff settings before they start. Good luck!

I hear ya. Sure I'd get killed in the first round, but I would have kept my playoff streak intact.

Why don't we go with a November 1st deadline to decide on final rosters for the offseason.

I believe we should also be able to keep our whole 25-man roster without cutting it down to 23 or whatever we have been doing. I've worked hard to get those players.

Nevermind, I'm trippin'. Looks like we kept 25 last year too. Nice.

I wish we could cut down much more and actually have a meaningful FA draft. But I know it's a pointless battle to bring up at this point.

We can have a meaningful FA draft, but it better be with additional roster spots (making it 30), which it so should be. I'm not sure how it would be fair to just make it a keeper league, like your suggesting, while some managers have built their teams assuming they get to keep all their current players.

I've said this since the first season all of which I was in the playoffs (minus this year of course). I just think it adds something different to the team that's all. I'm not saying keep only 7 or 8 guys. But I see nothing wrong with keeping 18-20 then redrafting after that.

Although I did get a solid player last year with Cruz.
