Maybe the Braves will try to convince Dickey to come back for less than $8 mil. Sounds like there aren't many teams he'd consider playing for - if any.

Ender by himself has completely won us the Shelby Miller trade. At this point we'd be singing Coppy's praises had we gotten Inciarte for Shelby straight up.

The Braves were unable to get Dayton Moore from Kansas City, they were prepared to give him full control and move on from John Hart. But Kansas City's owner won't allow Moore to leave, who is still under contract.

The Braves plan to announce in the next few days, that they intend to hire former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos as GM and John Hart will stay on, but more in a consultant role.

I like the Anthopoulos hire, he did a good job at Toronto despite the Dickey trade. Hopefully he's learned from that error however.

Braves to hire Alex Anthopoulos as GM

Anthopoulos served seven years as Blue Jays general manager through 2015 -- he was hired to that post at just 32 years of age -- before spending the past two seasons as Dodgers vice president of baseball operations.

He has a background in scouting but was among the first wave of young GMs to fully embrace the use of statistical analytics, and he’s known for being aggressive with trades and signings.

Anthopoulos’ hiring comes just as the GM Meetings begin Monday at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, and six weeks after John Coppolella was forced to resign as Braves GM amid a investigation by Major League Baseball into numerous alleged rules infractions by the Braves in the areas of international free agency and the draft.

The Braves’ first choice to lead their baseball operations was thought to be Dayton Moore...But Moore is still under contract and the Royals denied the Braves permission to interview him.

If Anthopoulos was a Plan B, then most baseball insiders would agree it was an impressive fallback for the Braves.

Not every move he made worked out: Noah Syndergaard and Travis d’Arnaud were traded to the Mets for R.A. Dickey, and there was a relatively small return when he traded away Blue Jays icon Roy Halladay. There were also a few free-agent signings that didn’t work out.

Still, on balance Anthopoulos is regarded as bright and astute.

While the Braves currently have John Hart as president of baseball operations, Hart’s contract expires at the end of the year and it’s not believed that he’ll continue in the same position, and if he does it almost certainly won’t be with the same power as Anthopoulos is expected to have final say in baseball matters regardless of title.

Im pretty happy with that.

Hopefully he doesn't gut our farm trading for big name players like in Toronto.

I'm picturing John Hart belligerently refusing to leave the Braves table.

On the positive side of things, Acuna is 2nd in both OPS and slugging percentage in the Arizona Fall/Winter league. The 1 player he's behind in slugging is... Austin Riley. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=l119&lid=119&t=l_bat

Riley needs another year in the minors... or does he? Yes, he does. He's still just 20 and needs some refinement both offensively and at 3rd base, but he looks like a real good bet for 2019.

Minter's going to be real good imo - though probably not as good as Kimbrel - who could go down as one of the all-time great closers.
