Who would you have rather signed if the money was there, Ryu on his deal or Keuchel on 3/$55.5? Ryu is a year older.

The key stat I look at is ERA+, which is park adjusted ERA. Average ERA+ is 100. Keuch had a very good 121 with Atlanta and a good 111 the year before. Ryu had a phenominal 179 last season and a ridonculous 198 the year before. Not to mention that Ryu has a better than 4 to 1 lifetime SO/W ratio - which is absurd. I'd definitely take Ryu - even with the extra year (of age and contract) and more money.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Rays are acquiring Jose Martinez along with Randy Arozarena in a six-piece trade with the Cardinals.

As reported earlier on Thursday, the Rays will send top pitching prospect Matthew Liberatore to St. Louis in the deal. Tampa Bay will also send a low-level catching prospect, according to Passan, and the teams will exchange draft picks, with the Rays getting a Compensation A pick and the Cardinals getting a Compensation B selection. Martinez hit .269/.340/.410 with 10 homers in 373 at-bats for St. Louis last year, while Arozarena -- one of the better outfield prospects in the system -- impressed with an .891 OPS in his 23 at-bats after a late-season promotion. Martinez likely rotates between first base and DH for Tampa Bay, with some playing time in the outfield. Arozarena likely begins the year at Triple-A Durham.

The Cardinals just got a good young pitching prospect.

Yeah, I thought that was a great move by the Cards - getting Liberatore - who looks like a future stud. It's unusual to trade a 2018 1st rounder that's still a top prospect. Plus the Cards get a nice catching prospect in the deal. And they're likely following up the deal by signing a good free agent OFer to replace the OFers they got rid of.

Bryant and Cubs avoid arbitration, signs one year $18.6 mill deal.

Betts and Red Sox avoid arbitration, signs on year $27 mill deal, that breaks the record Arenando set last offseason of $26 mill.

Wow! It was expected that they cheated since so much attention was centered around.

Good for MLB, and I don't buy that the GM had no idea considering how much technology was used and that it was so widespread among the team. They had a "scheme to steal signs and relay them to batters by banging on a garbage can". I mean... how does the GM not know that's going on - and not understand that that's wrong? Obviously the manager knew what was going on.

And they also lose 2020 and 2021 1st and 2nd round picks. Holy spit - that's quite a message.

And Joey Cora - who was apparently the ring-leader... gotta figure he's done, and the Red Sox need a new manager.

Luhnow should have got a lifetime ban, like Coppy did.

Cora done as Red Sox Manager. His MLB punishment is still coming.

If MLB says Cora did the same thing in Boston, he's done for life - he won't be allowed to chew gum in a MLB park.

Word is, the Mets may likely fire Beltran. He and Cora are the masterminds behind this.

Wow, that makes my skin crawl. All the little kids that idolize him...

Speculation is he had a buzzer under his uniform that signaled when he was getting a curveball or slider.

I don't know - maybe there's another explanation?

I don't want to think about it, but hopefully Brian McCann wasn't involved in the Houston scandal. https://stream.org/mlb-cheating-scandal-brian-mccann/

So because he hasn't said anything and is now retired, he's guilty?? WTF? So I guess every player who doesn't talk is guilty? Click bait article here.
