Report: Manny, Ortiz had positive tests in 2003

Post#1 » by Celts09 » Thu Jul 30, 2009 4:41 pm

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, lawyers with knowledge of the results told The New York Times.

The two were key members of the Boston Red Sox World Series teams in 2004 and 2007.

Gammons was on ESPN saying maybe this pushes the red sox to get an adrian gonzo, or victor before the deadline, just in case ortiz starts to slip again.

I don't think Adrian gets traded. He's a hometown superstar who's under control on a reasonable contract. On a team with very little, I'd think they would keep by far their best position player. Victor is maybe more attainable.

I'd rather go the halladay route.

If you are a Yankees fan, that disqualifies you from being a Celtics fan. I'm sorry. I don't know how that is acceptable.

Hahaha, I'll probably be banished from the Celtics board for this, but I'm a Celtics, Yankees, Patriots, and Bruins fan. Granted, the only one of those teams I still really care for is the Celtics any more, but those are my affiliations. My mother was an avid Yankees fan, which ended up causing me to be one, and I just took New England for everything else.

David Ortiz and incoming Major League Players Association director Michael Weiner will address the media before tomorrow's game at Yankee Stadium regarding last week's report that Ortiz failed a test in 2003 for performance-enhancing drugs, according to MLBPA spokesman Greg Bouris.

Earlier today, there was a report and persistent rumors that Ortiz would talk to reporters this afternoon, but that turned out to be false.
