The NFL and NBA drafts have been televised for years. Now, Major League Baseball is joining the trend.
For the first time in its history, the baseball entry draft will be aired live on ESPN2. Coverage will begin on Thursday, June 7th at 2 p.m. ET from Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The broadcast will end at 6 p.m. ET.
Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said the telecast, "will give fans access to see this critical function of an organization's development. This is an idea whose time has come."

Yeah pick the next Alex Gordon AKA the hyped up player that sucks so far.
BTW Albert went in the 13th round (402nd pick)
Derrek Lee was a number 14 pick.
What is stupid is most of the superstars come from other countries so the players being drafted usually do not make the major league roster for like 4 years.

You can't blame MLB for trying to cash in on the popularity of the NFL draft. You don't know if it'll work if you don't try it. I'll probably watch the first round just because the Cubbies have the 3rd pick and the Brewers soon there-after. Maybe it'll help me remember some of these guys names so I can then say, "Oh yeah, I think I heard about that guy 4 years ago."
