Zambrano Calls Cardinals' Catcher His Next One

Chicago Tribune - Carlos Zambrano motioned to reporters standing around the clubhouse and pointed to a box that contained a pair of red shinguards.

"It's a gift from my next catcher, Yadier," Zambrano said.

Zambrano was referring to St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina, although he didn't specify whether he was going to St. Louis or Molina was coming to the Cubs

I'd like Yadier here. One of the better defensive catchers I've seen in my short lifetime.

It would make some sense Yadier coming here since we have Jason Marquis on this team who he caught for last year. I don't see us trading Zambrano to St. Louis since they don't have much bullpen there to trade back for.

I think this is Z saying he better get a deal done soon or he will be signing w/ the Cards.

The Cubs/Cardinals will not be doing any trades. So, Yadier is not coming here unless he's a FA.

If Zambrano ends up with the Cardinals I would be beyond pissed. I still think he would end up in a place like Boston or New York if he did leave, but this still makes me a bit concerned.
