Morrow threw 35 pitches on Wednesday and is going to pitch in a simulated game this weekend and should be activated next week. He says he is ready to return, but I don't blame the team for being cautious this time of year. The rest of the bullpen is just going to have to step it up for a bit. Maybe the offense will get going and there won't be a need for a closer for a few days.

another dramatic win, this time over the reds - happ with the huge homer

these are fun and we need the wins but man if the offense could get in a groove and start piling up a lot of runs that would really be great

Exactly. Just a couple where offense really gets going would be great.

and we only get a 1-0 game, but i'll take it! 3 in a row and a 2.5 cushion on the brewers

cubs lead the majors in shutouts this year

They have officially shut down Morrow for the rest of the season. That could make the bullpen in the playoffs interesting.

Shut your mouth! Jinx!!!! Hamels with his worst start as a Cub and they get shutout! One does not speak of the bats heating up, winning streaks or no hitters!!!

I ain't mad at ya, just venting a bit after that disgusting loss.

Got them back today. Getting closer to locking up the division.

I'm concerned about the Addy situation. I wonder if they had some idea this was coming when they added Murphy.

I would have to say if we wind up with best record in NL despite Bryant missing time, no Darvish, Morrow inury, etc., then he has to be a strong contender.

Nice to see Kyle coming around. Last two starts (might be more than that) have been very good.

I think it will be Yelich winning with Javy and Arandado 2 and 3. I think the OBP gap probably pushes Javy to 3rd. If they had these same numbers 30 years ago I think Javy would have won.

Javys case starts with he is the best player on the best team. Considering he has gold glovecaliber defense, i think his competitors stats would really have to stand out and imo they dont.

Of course it would be great for the cubs to get the offense clicking.
As a top 10 team in runs produced, it shows the offense isnt a huge flaw. This is more of small ball team than 2016 championship team. Being top 10 in runs and 2nd in Batting average, the offense seems servicable to contention.
