I would have preferred CC but for what we gave up I will take Harden...

Another great thing with this deal is Harden has another year on his current deal (cheap)...so we have him for next year also.

I thought you were joking when you posted that rumor. I'm so glad you were right.

A Zambrano-Harden-Dempster rotation can do damage in the playoffs, the same as a Sheets-Sabathia rotation. I'm glad the Cubs quickly addressed the pitching situation.

It's nothing but pure greed that makes 'em lock the threads over here. If we can have OT: Sardines and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, why can't we have OT: BIG EVENT-Cubs or OT: BIG EVENT-Bears?

Because there isn't a Sardines and Peanut Butter Sandwiches board.

I like that 1-2-3 combo. This deal is much better than what I was expecting. :D

And don't forget Lilly who has been pitching well in his last few starts.

looking around at forums from the AL EAST.. everyones excited that he's gone so they don't have to face Harden.. i think that says a lot about how good he is.

Zambrano
Harden
Lilly
Dempster
Marshall

I'm loving this.

But now the Cubs have three #5 starters, Gaudin, Marquis, and Marshall. Could there be another move? And other pieces could be Cedeno, Wuertz. Well probably not, I think he Cubs will most likely stick with the roster they have now.

I'm listening to 1250 am in Milwaukee. They start to talk about the Harden trade and say, looks like the Cubs gave up a lot of talent for an injury prone player. This just shows how knowledgeable the hosts on that radio station are.

Even if Harden goes down we will have Gaudin to fill his spot. This was a steal for the Cubs.

He's been in the bullpen all season and he's not doing a bad job. I think that it is huge that the Cubs acquired Gaudin in this deal. It just adds more depth in the bullpen. If you want to compare it to MIlwaukee, they are going to have to give up another 2 prospects to get a guy that can match what Gaudin has done.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO, Im so happy.

Zambrano and Harden if they stay healthy are going to be sick, and Gaudin gives us a bullpen arm.

Only Patterson and Gallagher possibly had a future with this club. Murton cannot play any corner outfield spot (Soriano and Fukudome), and Donaldson is far away from cracking the majors. Gallagher could have been a good pitcher in our rotation down the road (he did a solid job as a #5 starter this year), and Patterson could have played second base after DeRosa's contract ends in '09, but that would be unlikely also.

Can someone tell me about Donaldson? I'm not aware of him.
