I'm a Raptors fan and regardless of whether or not this deal is a good one for my favourite team (I happen to think it is), I think it's a refreshing thing to see big name players moving in a relatively FAIR trade. The last three major NBA trades have brought conspiracy theorists out of the woodwork citing one-sidedness in favour of the larger market teams. From what I can tell, this trade has no distinct winner (at best there might be a 60:40 split in opinions). Trades like the Gasol trade were closer to having unanimously accepted winner.

Trade is good for Toronto if they can get a full good season out of O'Neal. next season he becomes a huge expiring anyways.

Are you fcking kidding? Garnett-Perkins, Yao-Scola, Amare-Shaq, hell even West-Chandler's better.

Um, Scola was a better player than JO last year in almost every aspect and I don't think I have to explain Yao.[/quote]

so Luis Scola is better than JO now based solely on last year's stats?

I think it's reasonable to assume so. Scola's only going to get better and JO is only getting worse.

I agree. If both guys are healthy I think they're the best PF/C combo in the NBA. That said, the Raptors don't have guys like Kobe/Odom, Paul, Pierce/Allen, Ginobili/Parker to match up with some of the other better frontcourts in the NBA. Thankfully, most of those teams are out west and with another solid maneuver to get some perimeter help I think the Raptors could be in prime position to make some serious noise out east although the Celtics will obviously still be the favourites.

toronto still has work to do, like most teams in the nba, but i think it moves them up in the standings if JO is healthy but not in the top 2 or 3..

Agreed. The Raps are still a scoring swingman away from taking that kind of step.

The Raps still have some pieces they could move to get a nice wing.

Edit: I wonder if Vince Carter is available :D

Pacers spokesman David Benner said those reports were premature.

“There is no trade to announce. It is all speculation,” Benner told The Associated Press.

We're not going to know who won this trade until at the very earliest this time next season. My initial thoughts are that the Pacers win because we got 3 players for JO who has troubles just playing half the season. There is no telling how this will play out, but I just hope Ford likes the city of Indianapolis. I wonder what JO is going to do with Club 7?
