I doubt Bird trades Bayless for Rush, that would make no sense at all.

As the draft approached, some mock drafts had what many Pacer fans felt impossible occurring: Jerryd Bayless dropping into our range. Gunshy Pacer fans counted off each pick that went by, at first with growing excitement, then with growing dread as we feared that Bird would spring a Kosta Koufos surprise on us. But, finally, the Pacer fans got some real joy.

The 6'3" Bayless brings a scoring combo guard that will be a perfect pairing with the newly acquired TJ Ford, bringing shooting, size and strength to a backcourt that was staring at three guys at or under 6'0". He fits both a hole in the line up and the system employed by Jim O'Brien that emphasizes shooting and speed. If he doesn't get the start at the 2 this year, he'll certainly get big minutes as a backup at both guard positions. The Pacers fortunes have grown considerably brighter over the past two days. (But wait...Chad Ford is reporting possibly Bayless going to Portland for Jarrett Jack and the #13, which became Brandon Rush. It's never easy for us.)

Well, if it was Koufos, I would've falled out of my chair. There still can be a trade, so we'll have to stay on our toes.

11 Indiana Jerryd Bayless 6-3 204 PG Arizona
Bayless really slid in the draft, which makes him a great value here. Why would the Pacers draft another point guard after trading for T.J. Ford? We're hearing Bayless is going to Portland for No. 13 and Jarrett Jack

Well, there goes Rush.

I'm really hoping either Speights, Randolph, or Hibbert (with Hibbert only being the man if Speights and Randolph are already gone).

I'm going to die if we trade Bayless for Rush.

It sounds like the POR/IND deal is pretty close to happening. At least that's how it's being reported in Portland. Jarrett Jack is involved.

However, the Oregonian is reporting that the Blazers have made a deal for Augustin. So it's all still up in the air right now.

I would think it would've been announced already if there was a trade, but if it doesn't get announced in the next 10 minutes, then it's probably a no go. Which is good...

I hope we keep Bayless but if we do trade him that means Rush just went at 13. We know the Bird liked him, so it could happen, if we do a deal with Portland I want both their picks. Question don't we need to send them some salary to do this. Jack and the Rush for Bayless and ???

"It’s a trade we’re told. I went up to Bartelstein and asked him if the Blazers are keeping Brandon, and he smiled and said most likely it’s a trade. He says he’ll know in two minutes what’s up…the suspense!!! That's a scoop for our loyal readers..."

Rush is a good player. Make no mistake about it. Easily, my second choice.

I wouldn't do the trade, but who knows what Bird has in store for the Pacers.

Screw it. I'm not getting NBA League Pass anymore until Bird is fired.
