Seeking advice on a FA pickup, 2 guys virtually identical?!?

Post#1 » by edcoche » Sat Jan 5, 2008 2:15 am

In my league Andrea Bargnani and Okur both are available at the moment. When comparing the stats it's a close call in points, %'s, 3's, TO's. There are small differences in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. I just can't make up my mind. They both are F/C eligible and are just starting to come back strong from some injury issues. I am leaning towards Okur b/c of his play in the recent years, but at the same time Bargs is a sophomore and his history has yet to be written. As I write this Bargs is going off on the Pistons with a great game and I feel that he will be off the FA market within 24 hours. I guess it comes down to who is more important to their respective team.

What do you guys think? As always, any and all advice/insight is much appreciated so thanks in advance!!

I haven't seen much of Okur, but I think its a gamble for whoever you decide to go after. Me (being a homer), would personally go for Bargnani. I was watching the game last night, he looked very confident, and was nailing his shots which was a previous problem he was facing. As a fan, I am expecting big things from Bargnani from now on and I have every reason to believe he will meet those expectations.

One thing that really upsets me with Bargs is his complete lack of effort on the boards. Honestly for a guy with his size and youth he really should get more rebounds. He gets an F for his eFFort on that front. I got rebounders though and what I really need is treys so if he finds his shot, on a regular basis, it will be an easier decision to make. I'll wait and see how Okur does tonight.

In my league the slots are G,G,F,F,C,U,U.

It's an 8 team H2H - FG% FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO.

Very competitive $$$ league though, these guys are all seasoned vets.

Honestly, they're pretty much the same. Neither one has really tore it up this year. I say flip a coin and let it be.

I would personally take Bargnani, just seems to have more potential to really bust out.

Okur is a starter and posts slightly better numbers in every cat.
