OT Bibby traded to Atlanta

Post#1 » by Al n' Perk No Layups! » Sat Feb 16, 2008 5:38 am

A poster on the Bucks board was listening to a pre game show on Fox Sports radio for the Rookie-Soph game and a few NBA insiders said that Bibby was going to be traded to the Hawks for Sheldon Williams, Salim Stoudemire and filler.

Man, these trades just keep coming.

Edit:

Seems the deal is final.

The Kings have reached an agreement in principle to send veteran guard Mike Bibby to the Atlanta Hawks for guards Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue and forwards Lorenzen Wright and Shelden Williams, sources told The Bee on Saturday.

If true, Thats a pretty good move for the Hawks. Say what you want about Bibby. But, He will be the best PG they have had in LONG time. Looks like the Hawks are making a playoff push.

Agreed, this really solidifies that team.

I didn't think Bibby would be sold for that low a value. I figured the Cavs would offer a better deal.

Thats the thing, the Cavs got noone. They have no bargaining chips. To get Bibby, the Cavs need to send either Gibson or Varejao.

the cavs have nothing but terrible contracts. and the few non terrible ones they have, would probably screw up their team if they traded them.

they'd have to trade gooden or z. no one wants hughes and varejao/sasha can't be traded yet.

Yep, they don't have much. I guess it would have to be Varejao or Drew Gooden included in an offer.

if the hawks do it, they'll definitely make the playoffs. they'll lose in the first round, but for the love of god, they need to make the playoffs just once before some of us die! and maybe the can be at least .500 if they make it!

they've always needed a point guard, and bibby is capable.

Yep, they'll probably always hear that they shouldn't have passed on Chris Paul, but at least they can finally get a point guard that isn't a complete idiot or a career backup.

thank god they didn't get him! hornets ftw. i hope we don't get crushed when playing you. not too many good defensive teams out west. houston is good, but we beat them..the pistons are better and we got blown out...it was sad. and we split the spurs so far.

i think he tried out for them. for you guys its great he didn't get drafted by them. he's a pest. just about every team except utah made a bad decision.

The Kings are going to become pretty damn bad. Surely they could do a bit better than Shelden Williams?

Sheldon Williams is AWFUL, good move for the Hawks if this happens.

I heard they might be getting Childress in the deal also, if so I think it's a good deal for SAC.

Nice, good news for ATL ...maybe then won't continue to suck this decade. Now they need to resign Smith... let M. Williams develop... good things.

Still hate the jersey change...

Salary dump for the Kings. Hawks could've had Chris Paul, but- Bibby/JJohnson/Marvin/JSmith/Horford is not bad. (assuming Bibby's decline was contextual)

Johnson, Lue, and Wright all expire this year. Looks like Sacs going into serious rebuild mode. Can't say as I blame them. They're going nowhere as constituted. I bet Artest is gone before the deadline too for youth and/or draft pick(s) and obligatory contracts.

And if they do go that route, could be some buyouts in the near future for Danny to consider.

Rather have Bibby in Atlanta than in Cleveland. I agree that Artest will be gone as well.

It seems the deal is Bibby for Williams, Lue, Anthony Johnson, and Lorenzen Wright. I wouldn't be surprised if Salim for a second goes down after Sacto makes some cuts.

http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/717681.html

I think this trade gives the Hawks the sixth seed.

Also, Artest will probably be traded soon too, maybe Miller as well.
