Kevin Love = Larry Bird

Post#1 » by meatball sub » Thu Mar 20, 2008 4:27 pm

Since it's time for March Madness to begin I figured it would be a good time to reserve a thread for all things related to Kevin Love; specifically anything in regards to Larry Bird comparisons.

Have at it, boys.

uh, no, kevin love does not equal larry bird, as much as i like love.

i feel like comparing players to bird just because they are white is a small form of racism and it bothers me

Exactly, but it happens every year. A thread comes out saying some white guy in the tournament is the next Bird.

Love is like Pistol Pete, Larry Bird and a little bit of Kevin Mchale.

That's awesome.

I think I might keel over in actual pain from an abdominal strain if someone said that and meant it seriously.

:D

Incidentally and derailing your thread, go Celtics! Nice to see you guys getting some of your old shine back. I'd be endlessly amused if you were somehow able to draft Love and make another Boston dynasty.

Love looks like the next Kevin Pittsnogle. It seems like every year there is a fresh crop of overrated white guys. Morrison, Redick, Hansbrough etc.

I hate comparisons.

Was anyone the next Bird???
Was anyone the next Russell???
Was anyone the next Magic???
Was anyone the next Michael???

No. No. No. No.

These guys were special. That's why they were great.

There will be more great players, and no one will be quite like them either.

What? No. Kevin Love is legitimately talented.

Morrison and Redick suck; no reason to lump Love in there with them.

Honestly though, who was the last great whitey that wasn't a point guard?

And like clockwork, I'm sure some C's fans will slobber over him since we always need the "next Bird"

:rocking:

Thanks, I don't get all the fuss over Love. Sure he could have some cool nicknames, but he just isn't that good. Raef Lafrentz was a overhyped big whitey and went in the top 5. Meanwhile Pierce slipped to 10.

Who cares?

Anyway, David Lee is great. Tukoglu, Peja, Dirk, Ginobili, Kirilenko, Brad Miller, Mike Dunleavy, Ilgauskas, Oberto, Gasol, Foster, Scola, Mike Miller, Troy Murphy, Kaman, Kleiza, Collison, Bogut. What the hell--there are dozens of very good white players in the NBA right now.

The last truly great white american non-PG was probably Chris Mullin or Jeff Hornacek.

Doesn't Dallas have a seven foot 'whitey' who's pretty good?

Oh, wait, he's 'euro-whitey', not all-american-whitey. I guess he doesn't count.
