I know I was suicidal. You would have thought that my dog died when we got the Fifth pick. What is your recollection of your emotions a year ago?

I was still attending Berklee at the time, and lived right on the fenway. I can tell you I'm not a drinker ... but the first thing I did was grab my wallet and head to Woody's on Hemenway. I had 5 or 6 beers, and vented to a japanese musician friend who obviously didn't know anything about the Celtics.

Begin preparing my argument towards my friends as too why the Celtics wern't screwed. Something about "maybe we will trade it"or "Al Jefferson was just as good as that Kevin Garnett guy this season if not better"... I also vaguely remember wikipedia-ing Yi JianLian to see how old he actually was

I was at a bar on Newbury St, hoping to rejoice with fellow fans when the incredible Oden/ Durant news came. It all happened so fast. I ordered a nice meal, and when the fifth envelope was open I called over to my waitress to cancel my order and give me a drink instead. There was no one to share the grief with because those who were watching were like "what else is new, we're screwed".

Not a good day. Not suicidal, but pretty depressed after going through that losing streak and totally buying into the 'tanking towards a better future' mode.

Those awards are based on minutes, opportunity and draft pedigree, more oft than naught. Green, and I am being charitable, looks to be, at best, a lesser Antoine Walker but more likely Lamond Murray. Which is fine, of course, but not when you are drafting #5, overall, in a pretty good draft. Can he rebound from that performance, sure, but he isn't likely ever going to be a valid 1st, 2nd or even 3rd option on a good team.

I got about ten facebook messages about how the Celtics were screwed, and then I came on here to see about ten pages of people venting.

Then when I got out of denial, I decided that we'd be fine with Big Al, Pierce, Rondo, Perk, and Tony Allen. I was hoping we'd draft Noah, because I thought he had that winning mentality and we might sneak into the eight seed.

Then it all changed and Ainge saved the franchise.

Wow, harsh. I think he can still be pretty nice. His playmaking ability from SF/PF is pretty nice. He had some really great games to wind down the season. Dropping 35/10 in a game in your rookie season is pretty good, don't you think? And last game of the season he had 27/10 on 12 shots.

Overall he was horrible, but showed some impressive flashes of potential.

The list of guys who have gone for 35 and 10 in their age 21 or younger season isn't that big, and a lot smaller for rookies 21 and younger.

Looks like Elton Brand was the last rookie, 21 or younger to do it. Maybe a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) stat, but look at the players on this list.
