Offseason Idea

Post#1 » by cavsfan1023 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 12:43 am

1. Re-Sign Tony Allen, Eddie House, James Posey. Let Cassell, Brown, Pollard walk.
2. 3 team trade:
BOS Gets- Wally Szczerbiak, Jeff Foster, Daniel Gibson, IND #11
CLE Gets- Perkins, Posey, Scal, O'Neal
IND Gets- Varejao, Snow, Smith, Pavlovic, CLE #19

3. Draft DeAndre Jordan(Big Man very athletic), Kyle Weaver(PG and SG can pass well and great def.), Richard Roby(Great shooter can replace Allen in future)4. Sign Ryan Gomes.
5. Trade Big Baby for picks and cash considerations.

Jeff Foster is a decent veteran center that can rebound, Wally can still shoot as he proved in the Cleveland series and he is an expiring contract, he can be great off the bench. Gibson can shoot and he is good for the future.

2008/2009 Lineup
C- Jeff Foster(30)/Leon Powe(18)
PF- Kevin Garnett(35)/Ryan Gomes(13)
SF- Paul Pierce(35)/Wally Szczerbiak(13)
SG- Ray Allen(35)/Kyle Weaver(8)/Wally Szczerbiak(5)
PG- Rajon Rondo(30)/Daniel Gibson(13)
Benched: Eddie House, DeAndre Jordan
IR/DLeague: Richard Roby, Tony Allen, Gabe Pruitt

Future Lineup
C- DeAndre Jordan/Leon Powe
PF- Ryan Gomes/Leon Powe
SF- Richard Roby/Tony Allen
SG- Daniel Gibson/Kyle Weaver
PG- Rajon Rondo/Gabe Pruitt

Wait, get rid of all the stuff in between 2, because it is really bad. But option number 2 I think some are overlooking. Perk and Posey (who might walk anyway) for daniel gibson and the number 11, if ainge were to ever be offered that, he would have to think...

Anyway, no.

Cleveland gets the 3 best players in the trade. Also, KG isn't a big wally fan and neither am I.

I'm glad you're not Danny Ainge, or at least I hope you aren't.

You mean we get Wally AND Gibson?! And all we have to do is trade Perk and Posey? Wow, I don't know if Cleveland will accept that ...

Wally+Gibson = downright (Please Use More Appropriate Word) defense with no size
Perk+Posey = top notch defense with size

hmmmmmm ...

No thanks on Wally. He was a key piece to building our championship this year....by being the big chip to move in the Ray Allen trade, which spurred the KG trade, which spurred the Posey/House signings. I think Wally has done enough for the C's; we don't need him 'contributing' on the court anymore.

Good effort though. JO would be an interesting player to put next to Lebron. He can hit the jumper and definitely has defensive skill, a must under Tony Brown. He'd have to stay healthy though, which will likely scare off the Cavs after the Larry Hughes debacle. Seems like Jermaine is going to the Raptors if anywhere though, and I'd be absolutely shocked if Indy trades their #11 pick for anything but a higher pick than that this year. They are dead-set on finding a PG in this draft, be it Westbrook, Augustin, Chalmers, etc. There is a huge dropoff in PG talent after Chalmers, so I'd doubt they would even swap down and run the risk of missing on him and ending up with the riff-raff.

Again I think some are overreacting to option 2. I like perk and hate wally so I wouldn't do it. But the poster is not biased against us...

Is perk enough for the 11th pick? I don't think they would do that straight up. All we add is a sign and trade with James Posey who might walk anyway, and scal, and we would get the 11th plus gibson, plus foster. That is definitely not as bad a trade as we have seen on here.

Again, I still would not do it because I like the team as is.

I think you are on to something. That is the beuaty of this deal. We pickup a stud with the 11th pick then at the trade deadline to the stud and Wally to I don't know, Dallas for Dirk. I like it. Brilliant!

Does it work in the trade checker?
