I'm on it. I remember that steal and dunk from his freshman year where Dick Vitale was going nuts. I was pissed about this pick until youtube jogged my memory, thanks youtube.

He looks like a talent who only has attitude problems. KG's dealt with a player similar like that in Rashad McCants and Rashad has been playing well ever since. This team can only be a good influence for J.R. Say what you want about some of the player's games but all of our guys, from top to bottom, our good characters. The Celtics organization is built on class. J.R. can hopefully use his potential to the fullest.

Hell yeah I'm on it. I think it's another Danny Steal. A "bad attitude" reason for the low draft position which will probably pan out great on this veteran team. KG and the crew can keep anyone in check. Bar fight stabbing victim? No problem, he has Pierce to indentify with and the perfect roll model to follow. A 6.5" guard who shoots over 50% and pulls down almost 9 boards a game is rare. I'm in.

Sorry, I don't think there will be a summer league for the C's this year.

No summer league? Damn, this board is going to have a lot of empty threads till October. Oh well.

chad ford wrote:A huge surprise here. Giddens might have lottery-type talent, but he had so many off-court issues that his stock tanked. I guess Danny Ainge is willing to roll the dice, given his veteran squad. If Giddens grows up, this will be a great pick. But it's a big if ...

count me in. hell why not. if he works out, sweet. if not, oh well, it's not like we're not world champions or anything.

plus i like the lame joke potential: "who stabbed JR?" etc
(i guess i'm probably dating myself with that one)

JR was stabbed? Pair him with pierce and we have a bad ass surviving team.

Is their an article on this anywhere?

I've been on the bandwagon for a minute. Was expecting Bill Walker/DeAndre Jordan/Chalmers/CDR but was surprised in a good way by the Giddens pick.

Why not. Seems like a guy that could produce in the NBA soon should he stay in line. If the NBA champs with KG, PP, and RA plus Posey and Doc can't straighten him out, then at least we know he is hopeless..

Check out his profile on Draft Express. They did a lengthy interview with him. Seems like he grew up a lot since his sophomore year at Kansas, when he was stabbed at a dance club in Kansas.
