new Bosh trade rumor

Postby Shill4Tyrus24 on Sat May 16, 2009 11:57 am

Sorry if this belongs in another thread, but I thought it was fresh enough to warrant its own.

I got this from another message board:

I got this tip from my cousin who is an asst video coordinator with the Raptors. He and Kapono are pretty tight, they live like a block away from each other and chill all the time. I guess Kapono was supposed to be in the deal but ended up backing out. Thats how I got word of it.

He also said that Miami is "giving up" so much [in a rumored trade offer for Bosh, detailed below] because Chicago is trying to make a push with Ben Gordon(sign and trade), Tyrus Thomas, and a 1st rnd pick.

Thats what the word is anyway. For what its worth. I mean he told me the JO-Marion trade player for player about a week and a half before it happened so...

As far as I know the guy doesn't have a history of spreading b.s., but that doesn't mean his source is informed.

Seems a little suspicious to me, but I thought it was worth posting.

EDIT: Here is the rumored Miami trade offer, which is allegedly so rich because the Bulls have allegedly been offering BG, Tyrus & #16:

Here's a little more context. That was in response to his post about Bosh allegedly being rumored to Miami for:

Bosh
Quincy Douby
2nd round pick

for

Beasley
Udonis Haslem
James Jones
Dorrell Wright
1st round pick
future 2nd round pick

I edited this post to combine it with some of your next post and to make it clear that the rumor does not simply concern the Bulls making an offer for Bosh, but Miami countering with a potentially richer one.

Very suspicious, but would be great for Chicago. Things wrong with it:
- Gordon has to agree, which means it has to happen after July 1.
- Which means that it would be hard to include a pick from this year. You would be picking for Toronto without knowing if they are going to take the player.
- Salaries don't line up, but the Bulls have lots of filler.
Just chill out, dude. Seriously.

If the Raps would accept that, you'd have to be all over that if you're Miami.

...which one...the Bulls or the Heat?

Doesn't the trade also depend on what Bosh wants when he signs his extension? I'd hope he'd choose Chicago, because after that Miami trade...there will be no bench.

It is very suspcious but with the picks it could be 2010 1st..... Toronto may be willing to sign Gordon to a big enough offer giving the Bulls indication that Ben will go there....

The Bulls do know what Gordon wants and could of told Toronto that figure

All in all though I agree very suspcious
James Johnson rookie prediction: 13pts 7rebs 3ast 1.5blks 1.5stls on 48% shooting but what do I know I'm stupid

I think the Bulls proposal is better. They get a good SG in BG + Tyrus + 16th pick. That's a very interesting rumor.

If Miami really offers that much, which I strongly doubt, the Raptors would have to take it. Beasley will be around as good and potentially better than Bosh, Haslem would be a good complement to Bargnani some of the time, Jones and Wright help to fill out the bench, and there are still draft picks.

The reason I don't believe that Miami would do it is that they can wait to try and sign LBJ or Amare outright in 2010 while keeping Beasley, and THAT would be a heckuva a team. Wade + Bosh and nobody else is still potent, but, as someone pointed out already, their bench would be eviscerated. Maybe they figure that LBJ or someone else would be all the more likely to join them in 2010 if they already have Wade & Bosh-- and they would still be under the cap by a lot. Interesting.

I wouldn't call that a 'rich' offer from Miami. But it does clear their bench though.

I think it depends on how they view Beasley.

Depending on that, it could be mostly hot garbage or could be a nice deal (for Toronto).

Re the first post, how could Kapono just decide to back out of the deal? Or did I misread that?
The Bulls (and Bears) will win most of their home games, and lose most of their road games. Please be advised, and overreact accordingly. :)

Why not? One of the most promising young forwards in the game-- a guy who put up near-all-star numbers as per36 averages (20.1/ 7.9) as a 20 year old rookie-- plus a solid vet big man of the type that Toronto needs, who's also an expiring contract? In fact, there are over $10 million of expiring contracts there if the Raptors want to let guys go. They could use their #9 pick to go after an SG who falls-- possibly Demar DeRozan, although I doubt that he falls that far-- or package their pick with the Miami one to try to move up a spot or two to get a better guard.

Calderon
Draftee/ Wright
Beasley/ Beasley
Haslem
Bargnani

And if they can re-sign Marion they would really be set at SF/PF, and could use Haslem as a backup C some of the time.

The point is that Beasley could be as good as Bosh straight-up, and possibly better. Anything else on top of that is gravy. Since some of the "anything else" is expiring salary and some of it represents draft picks, I'd call that pretty rich.

Sooooo, why does Miami do it? They're giving up the better player, Udonis, and a first round pick for Bosh?

Beasley kills any offer we have. And we aren't going to offer Rose for Bosh or STAT.

I take Beasley and run with it. He's on a rookie deal, all you need are expirings or 1 year deals, and you're back in it. You rebuild your team on the fly (potentially). If we are serious about landing Bosh, it will be done in the following way, IMO:

Deng, Tyrus, 16, 26, and Jerome James for Bosh and Kapono. Its the only offer we have that could potentially compete with Beasley. And I still take Beasley over the 'crap' we would offer in the deal I just outlined.

I think, if we are to land Amare or Bosh, the minimum price will be Tyrus, Noah, our two 1sts, and expirings. Potentially a Deng headed to Toronto (CoAngelo liked him in the past). And IMO, if you can land a bona fide superstar PF, it's a price you must pay. You have a core of Rose, (Gordon), and Bosh, and you try to find your Battier's and Pryzbilla's/Perkins/etc of the world to fill out the rest of the roster.
