PREVIEW

With Tim Duncan's career quickly approaching the finish line, the San Antonio Spurs may have acquired the right pieces for another championship run with their star center.

Coming off their longest summer break since 2000, the Spurs open their season Wednesday night, when they host a New Orleans Hornets team that's also looking to bounce back from a first-round playoff exit.

Great match up of pg's: I see both guys getting their own, but Paul coming out ahead with his tendency to get steals, and hit some threes. Also George Hill vs Bobby Brown/Collison should be fun to watch.

I can see J Wright putting some pressure on RJ, but i'm not sure he has the skill to guard Manu yet; either way he'll probably get a shot.

If the Hornets can stretch the floor with Peja, Posey and Mo Pete they'll have a chance to hang around in this one.

I think the real crux of the game lies in the paint. What kind of performance will Okafor give, and will the Hornets be able to handle the depth that SA has up front: Bonner, Blair and Ratliff coming off the bench.

I've been absent for awhile, but I'm back now.
Hornets really need more help on the wings...I hope their the front runners in this jackson race, because we could really use him down here.

This was a pretty rough game, it seemed like a lot of the team was non existent for stretches of the game and it was only Paul doing anything.

When Bobby Brown came on the floor in the first half, he was looking for his own shot WAY too much and wasn't really running the offense at all. He did a better job of looking for others later in the game and when he was on in the second half though.

Emeka's numbers look better than he played, but also when the game was close he was producing pretty well. He's no Chandler on the pick and roll, but it is a whole different look to have a C who can put his back to the basket, make a move and finish.

Lastly, Hilton Armstrong really should be shooting a lot less, I'm not sure what else to say than that about him on offense. He should only be scoring from others creating.

How long is Diogu out for?
