Trade Value: Shannon and an expiring will be worth a ton!

Postby Mamba Venom on Sat Oct 31, 2009 2:37 pm

Shannon is really reminding me of Ariza 2007-2008. The way he played in the preseason and is answers and attitude indicate that Shannon is going to get really good. Now I love Shannon just like I love lots of laker players but the Lakers #1 goal stating on top is finding a PG. I would bet you that Shannon and an expiring contract will have lots of value this January just like Crit, M Gasol & and an expiring had in 2008.

I'm not saying Shannon is going to bring back an all-star but I think his value is getting ready to soar (like Shannon does). Shannon is the young fan favorite who hustles has fair offense and who is trying to step it up on D.

Do you see Shannons stock seriously rising this year?

I like Shannon off the bench, but I'd totally do a Adam Morrison, Jordan Farmar, and whatever picks necessary for T.J. Ford.

That would be a rash panic move, why even think of trading Shannon?

And truth be told his value is ALWAYS what is was, Shannon in any trade will always be just a filler period. How do you even conceive these thoughts of yours?

You're pipe dreaming if you think Shannon plus an expiring contract is going to get us something competent. The only expiring's we have are role players that don't make a ton of money to begin with.

I would bet you that Shannon and an expiring contract will have lots of value this January just like Crit, M Gasol & and an expiring had in 2008.
WRONG.........have you really assessed the Lakers roster? I'm guessing no.

tj ford is not a good fit with you guys because he needs to drive to be effective and the paint is pretty much clogged with bynum, gasol, artest, and now kobe is posting up way more. you guys should start shannon brown, he can shoot, defned and is strong enough to guard big guards.
tj ford is a cancer, we experienced this in raptor land.

shannon isnt being moved...

think about the money situation, wed be trading a usable PG/SG on a 2mil per contract with an expiring for a long term deal around ~7 mil?

just isnt happening

its not even november yet, by february, there will be plenty of small guards bought out and willing to chase rings

I would too but I don't think other teams are as high on Farmar as they will be on Brown.

Brown is getting ready to break. I don't know why but I feel like Farmar is trying to get a Sasha contract. Maybe because he flapped his mouth in the off-season. Brown is just so fun to watch and physically he has more gifts so other teams probably would prefer Brown.

No on moving Shannon. We got Shannon on the cheap, he will be like an IPO in the 90s and pay off big shortly.

Um...thats why when TJ came in raptors tied the franchise high in wins that season. TJ is not a cancer just someone with an ego like a lot of nba players. Kobe and co. would be able to put him in his place and I think would thrive in LA. I doubt TJ would be given up for more than shiny garbage.

shannon brown has little trade value
If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong, though. It's Hambone.

I agree at the moment. and as others have said, he's the only pg worth keeping on our roster, so the two don't add up to "trade this guy".

If we are able to make the best of the situation we will wait until a team with an expensive, but good guard tanks and wants to cut salary near the deadline. At that time, we dangle Ammo, Farmar, and Luke/Sasha or whatever to make an upgrade if possible.
