Bulls Trade senerio

Postby GM_JAMES on Sat Oct 31, 2009 4:07 pm

I am a long time Bulls fan. I came up with this trade and thought I would get rocket fans view on it.

we'd have more trading pieces w/ this trade, and a playoff team at the same exact time

I would say no for the following reasons:
Hayes is the only Rocket big who can hold down a low-post player. Neither Miller nor Thomas can,so that weakens the D just too much.
Deng doesn't create for others and is a SF. The Rockets are loaded at SF w/Battier,Ariza and Budinger.
Dengs' salary kills all the cap room the Rockets would have next yr. Since I don't think he's the missing piece to the Rockets that would kill the idea for me.
Tyrus is a PF and that's the one position the Rockets would still be stocked with-Scola,Andersen and Landry, all of whom can provide offense, plus Pops Mensa-Bonsu.

Now a Thomas for Landry,Dorsey deal I'd do in a second :)

The Bulls may be able to find a taker for Deng, but it won't be the Rockets bailing them out.

No deal for the Rockets. Why trade for Deng when we have Ariza locked up long term? I want to see what McGrady can do when he gets back.

its an ok offer we get two big man we need, thomas could start at center, he also solves the big need of a shot blocker in the paint and he would be give houston insurance in case they cant resign scola and have a thomas and landry powerforward if necessary. if they do the early in the season they could package thomas and miller to toronto for chris bosh or just make it a three team trade. chicago may have to be open to take on battier's contract to ofset the big contract of deng...

but still not this trade, we have enough sfs, thomas plays both forward spots, and miller is old. its not a bad trade but we can get much better

Value wise - it's the most we could expect out of a McGrady deal as he's yet to prove he's back and ready to compete, but it's not a deal we really need at this point. I don't like the idea of playing Deng minutes at the two, and since we're already overloaded at SF, like others have noted, taking on Deng and his contract isn't really worth it. Our organization is trying to mold Ariza into the SF of our future, and adding Deng would add too much redundancy.

Miller is nice, but Hayes wouldn't be a throw in a deal like this. He's our best post defender, and does a lot of things that don't show up in the boxscore.

To the trade, no.

Why?
It's a Realgm post. It doesn't have to make sense. - PurpleTestament
- NBA players aren't indefinite nouns. There is no "a Lebron James", only "LeBron James"
