Blatche went 15/18. He shot .833 from the field. There have been 26 instances since 1986 in which a player averaged better than 83%, while shooting at least 18 attempts. Here is the list.

That only goes back to 86-87, but there are enough instances that his performance wasn't exactly unique. Still, pretty amazing either way.

AB thirteenth highest fieldgoal percentage (shared by a dowzen or more) but 26 in fieldgoal percentage with descending score.

but here's the best stat: Second the only SHAQ to do it at such an early age. SHAQ did it twice while 21 years old. blatche beat out rashard age wise by less than a month. way to go blatch!!!

now does this account for no foul shots and three pointers? is there a way to get that stat?
83% fg, 30 points no foul shots?

James Worthy actually got 30 points back in 86 without 3pointers or free throws also, but he attempted 3 free throws.

Also, a funny thing about the 26 long list posted earlier. Blatche was the first one to make this list without being a starter in the game :)

Better believe. Caron Butler has become a legit superstar.

Kwame after all wasn't a pathetic draft pick. He ended up helping us big time.

nate, really nice list. Note that Blatche did it in 27 minutes. Nobody else was in the 20s. Most required about 38 minutes. Blatche was beasting.

I also note from that list that Kenny Smith did it, and even threw in 4-4 on threes.

Names besides his that shocked me: Benoit Benjamin, Billy Owens, Willie Anderson, and to a lesser extent Kurt Thomas.

Much maligned Allen Iverson is on that list, too.

No props to Golden State for letting Robinson put up 36 points on 85% shooting in a winning effort without putting him on the foul line at least *once*.

Cliff Rozier (3 fouls), Donyell Marshall (3 fouls), and Don Nelson: I'm looking at *you*.

Is this the official Seven Day Dray thread now? He reminds me a lot of Cliff Robinson. Cliff never met a shot he didn't like, was kind of all over the place, the one thing he could do was play defense. Eventually he developed into an all star, and it looks like Dray is on the same path.

if it's not, it oughta be

I was thinking of starting a thread Andray Blatche, Superstar (song to the tune of JC Superstar).
We are going to be a seriously good team if he can keep up a high level of play.
Doubt it would happen anytime real soon but Antawn better not be out too long.
The team looks great with 'dray in there which given a 15-18 shooting night, is a
big duh.

What I like the most perhaps was him saying things are much easier with Gil back.
The Gil effect is already doing wonders for both Foye and 'dray.

I remember a few years ago when we played the Knicks and Gil was something like 13-16 for 46pts in just 29min or something crazy. I remember he was 13-15 in like 28min and missed his last shot on the 29th minute before they took him out and rounded it up to 30. I also think he hit like 7 threes in that game so that was way better than Blatche's to me. I remember thinking that it was one of the greatest performances Ive ever seen and people were actually asking that year whose performance was better, Gil's 46 on just 16 shots in 29mins or Kobe's 81

Yeah, that game showed up in one of my screens when I was trying to isolate Blatche's performance.

Gil had 46 points. He was 13/16 from the floor, 13/14 from the line and 7/10 from 3-point range. He had just one turnover. His eFG% was 103%. He was better than perfect.

No other player in history has scored more than 34 points while posting an eFG% greater than 100%. Basically, it was the most efficient high-scoring effort in the basketball-reference database.

wow, thanks for the great list, nate et.al......i am showing my age (57) when i was naming rick barry and jerry west as candidates. i also wondered what was wilt the stilt's sickest stat nite during the year he averaged 50 pts. i can recall seeing him at the baltimore civic center that year and he must have hit 20 fadeaway bank shots over walt bellamy.
