about delonte now that hes back...

Postby cavs130 on Sun Nov 01, 2009 1:53 pm

does he remain as the 1st guard off the bench? or does he come back as the starting 2?
IMO i think he should come off the bench and we keep Anthony Parker as the starter...what do you guys think?

He should start

I don't know.

Parker has done a good job overall so far I think, and we all saw what a huge spark Delonte was off the bench last night.

I really don't know though, and regardless of who starts Delonte better get 33+ mpg

Mo and Delonte work well together.. However, Parker is a better player to put next to LeBron and Shaq..

Delonte is someone that can come off the bench and create offense for himself and others... He also allows Boobie to play his more natural role when he's coming off the bench with Boobie...

Parker is not someone you want creating offense and it makes little to no sense to have Parker out there without Shaq, Mo and Bron...

I think that it doesn't matter whether West starts or not. It is about who finishes that matters.

Hey, that's my line

That being said, I still think that Delonte should start. Brown should never have Shaq, LeBron and Mo off the court at the same time.

exactly this.

I really hope they keep AP as the starter, but once Delonte gets a few games under his belt I wouldn't be surprised to see Mike Brown stick him back in as the starter.

1. start delonte west
2. sign antonio daniels
3. trade for troy murphy (buy out z and return + darnell jackson + 2nd)
4. ????
5. PROFIT!!!!!!!

Mo/ Daniels/ Boobie
Delonte/ Parker/ Green
LeBron/ Moon/ Jawad
Murphy/ AV/ Hickson
Shaq/ Big Z/ Powe

our interior defense might take a hit though.

Like where you are going with that Twenty but lets take it one step at a time.

I think that Parker is good, and I think that there is only a marginal difference at times between Delonte and Parker because they do different things. But the one reason why i would start Delonte is because he makes Mo play so much better. He takes ball handling duties off of Mo which takes ballhandling duties off of Lebron since they both play offball very well. He can make the entry pass to Shaq but also gives them a set of PG hands if the ball needs to swing around to the otherside of the court. I think his penetrating is better than Parkers which may get Shaq even more looks.

But I think that when he is coming off the bench he should be the PG for the second unit which allows Boobie to flow in his game better(even though he has become a way better ballhandler) plus Delonte knows how to play with Z and get him flowing better. His defense with Moon may be great.

He doesnt have to. Ideally I would like to see parker start and pepper a heavy dose of shaq early in the game like they have been doing. Sub on delonte for parker, Z for shaq similar lineup to the one you had last year that has an outside center and delonte can take over ball handling role from mo and vice versa.

Second quarter rolls around, shaq back in with delonte running the point, gibson in along with hickson and moon or parker. Parker, delonte, gibson all can shoot outside allowing shaq to play off of them and they can spread the floor, even allowing hickson to get some inside looks. You could even put AV in with the second unit and sub in hickson when you bring on Z for shaq.

The end of the game should certainly be Delonte in the game because that would give us 3 good ball handlers and then go with Z and AV, maybe shaq but he is such an free throw liability along with being a pick and roll liability.

There are alot of options for this team to go with and I think it will be a lot of experimentation for a while but eventually we will find something that clicks. Thats just the way I would like to see them go about the substitutions and lineups on a game to game basis.

Also I think everyone posting about how Delonte "makes Mo better" and how he "makes the bench, Boobie, etc. better" shows how important he is to this team...

Please guys, stop overrating Parker. He's an ok player but West is so much better, often the second best player on this team.

I agree. But I do not mind West coming off the bench in a Manu type roll. I was screaming about this last year because I thought Pavs was much better as a starter and to maximize his potential, he needed to start. Not to mention I like the scoring that West could/would bring off the bench

Yeah I don't mind West in a Manu role off the bench either. I was addressing comments that Parker and West are equals.
