Al Jefferson

Postby Master Shake on Sun Nov 01, 2009 4:11 pm

Just read on ESPN rumor central (so take this with a grain of salt), but there is a chance the Timberwolves may look to move Al Jefferson around the deadline if he doesn't fit into the new system.

Obviously, there is an extremely minor chance he gets moved, and an even smaller one we have a chance of dealing for him. But Al Jefferson is a big man I would gut this team to land, I think we can offer something fairly competitive.

Something around Villanueva, Stuckey, Daye, and a first? Kwame Brown would probably be added for filler and salary relief purposes.

That's what it would take to get Minnesota to listen.

I'd do Stuckey, Kwame, Max and Rip or Tay for Al Jefferson and rights to Ricky Rubio.

Wolves have Sessions and Flynn at PG and the rights to Rubio so I dont see why they'd want Stuckey
They have Kevin Love at PF so theyd have no need for CV
They dont have a credible SF but I think Prince is out of their age range and I dont see any combination of Daye/Jerebko/Summers getting it done

If Jefferson goes its likely going to be in a package for a young star- maybe something built around Jeff Green- that would benenfit both teams

Big Al is not coming to Detroit, not good trading partners in the slightest. No 3 ways will work either because whomever else is involved will want Al for themselves.

Well I think a bigger deal involving Sessions coming here and moving Daye and multiple picks their way makes sense.

Jeff Green is a good possibility for them, but I think our package is competitive. It would have to be Stuckey, Villanueava, and Daye. They could move Love to the 5 spot and Charlie V at the 4.

Our only shot is if the Wolves are madly in love with Stuckey. Anyway, we should say yes to any deal they propose for big Al, if they're dumb enough to consider trading him.

They'd be this:
Flynn/Sessions
Hamilton/Brewer
Prince/Pavlovic
Gomes/Jawai/Blount/Hollins/Pecherov
Love/Jawai/Blount/Hollins/Pecherov

Improved, I'd say.

We'd be:
Stuckey/Bynum/Atkins
Gordon/
Daye/Jerebko/Summers
Villanueva/Wilcox/Maxiell/Cardinal
Jefferson/Wallace/Brown
OR, more appropriated
Stuckey/Bynum/Atkins
Gordon/Daye
Villanueva/Daye/Jerebko
Wallace/Wilcox/Maxiell/Cardinal
Jefferson/Brown/Jerebko

We'd have to sign a SG or two (looks at Gerald Green, Wally Szczerbiak, Ime Udoka), and perhaps swing another trade with excess bigmen, but I'd argue that we were also improved.
