Game 5: Twolves (1-2) @ Clippers (0-4)

Postby clipperfan4life on Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:41 pm

Minnesota Timberwolves (1-2) vs. Los Angeles Clippers

When: 11/2/09 @ 7:30 p.m.
Where: Staples Center
What: Clippers are still seeking for their first win! Also it will be interesting to see how Bassy and Rhino perform against their former team.
Why: The main key for the Clippers is to play a full 48 minute game, not a 36 minute game. Sharing the the ball making good plays and no silly turnovers is a must.

Nice thread, keep the good work up clipperfan4life

As far as the game goes.
I really hope they get it and play a complete game, which includes the final 12 minutes as well. If not, we're pretty much bound for an 0-5 start, no matter what team we're playing.

It would have been nice to get a win in one of the first four games, despite playing playoff caliber teams. Hopefully, a win tonight will give us the spark that we are desperately in need of. Go Clippers!

Also, nice job at setting up the pre-game mash-up Clipperfan4Life

I don't think this will be an easy game to play. T-Wolves have been playing pretty decent. Flynn is definitely a stud.

EJ needs to make sure he doesn't get in early foul trouble, and we need to have a better rotation in the 2nd half in order to close things out. Those are the two things I'll look at for this game.
Dunleavy really sucks.. :(

I would assume Jefferson defends Kaman and Camby-Stewie. Then Camby can double team Al or weakside block.

Jefferson is only about 65% right now.

Is it just me or does anyone else worry about Kaman playing 41 MPG through the first 4 games, and EJ playing 38 MPG?

I don't mean that they don't deserve to be on the court that long, but that I hope their minutes normalize to about 35-36 MPG. I know that the games have been fairly close, so that is partly why.

The Clippers need to get a win down though. There have been a few tough games early on. Even at full strength, beating the Lakers, Jazz, Mavericks or Suns would be a tough task, so the 0-4 start is not really disheartening outside of the fact that at least two of the games were winnable.

Baron Davis really needs to start hitting shots though. IMO he should just scrap shooting three's unless it is a wide open catch and shoot three for a while and only attack the basket. I remember I was just recently looking at the 2-pt jumpshot percentages on 82 games, and last season he shot 33% on them, about the same as Josh Smith.

I've been quite impressed with Telfair's play as the backup PG, I think he's doing a good job for his minutes and doing the things he needs to do on the court.

Twolves played the suns yesterday so they are playing back to back. I think if we jump out on them early our 4th quarter collapse won't be an issue.

Going to the game tonight. Might have 3 extra tix in section 208. Let me know if you want to come. Misery loves company.

Wow, T-Wolves have a win? I hope we can beat them, let Craig Smith and Telfair play some minutes against their former team, I'm sure they'll be fired up.

It's definitely a concern, but DJ hasn't looked good when he's been on the floor. So I would think Kaman's minutes will be reduced once DJ picks it up or when Blake comes back. As for EJ, we haven't had much production from the backup SG position. Ricky seems to have vanished, Rush has played very limited minutes, and Rasual has been a bit inconsistent.

I don't know what happened to our bench depth. It seems to have just disappeared once the season started.

This might be the toughest game mentally for the team. It's always hard to get that first win. To get that monkey of your back.

If we can't beat the TWolves tonight in the second half of back to back road games for them, Dunleavy needs to be fired immediately. No more second chances or waiting around for Griffin to return to see how they will do with a full strength lineup. The TWolves have Love out, a new coach, minimal depth and are trying to learn how to run the triangle offense with a bunch of new players, no excuses will work for Dunleavy if we don't win this game.

You did a good job

I think if we can get over the hump of finally winning I think we will be fine. I'm sure this game won't be easy but we need to play hard and for a full 48 minutes.
