We received Herbert Hill on draft day for Fesenko. He looked ok on a summer league roster but then blew out a knee, I think he has played in Europe.

Why we drafted him and traded later in the second round is beyond me. Fesenko has at least played some in the NBA. Hill hasn't and was drafted 17 places later in the 2nd round.

We also traded Peteri Koppenen to Portland (last pick in 1st round) to Portland for Derrick Byars who was drafted 12 places later.

We did pass on guys like Glen Davis, Carl Landry, Marc Gasol, and Ramon Sessions. Remember Billy King was still mucking up the place at the time.

hindsight is 20-20...Fesenkohasnt done much, and i dont think he will be anything more than a fringe 12th man.

at the time of the draft Byars was looked to be a steal, and was touted a 1st round pick. he was SEC player of the year and looked to be a solid wing wit shooting/scoring..

Herbert Hill was a 18 8 and 3blk per game 6'10 PF in college and looked to be a somewhat polished 4.

They both havent panned out at all for anyone...but the draft is always full of risks, and we can look back and knock picks, but at the time they werent horrible choices.
(i would have personally picked Big Baby)

The collective hard-on for Herbert Hill was massive, I remember.

Herbert was awesome when healthy in the summer....Unfortunately, that's all he was healthy in.

What a damn shame. I hope he can make a Shavlik Randolph-ish return. You always need bigs like that in the league.
"What did he(Brand) play 40 minutes? I guess I was wrong"-Eddie Jordan on being so painfully clueless! Brand: 19/11/6 BLKS.

I think he went to play overseas. Not sure if he's planning on making a return.

Herbert Hill was a one year starter in college. He went from 18 mpg his junior year to 32mpg his senior year, so he was not the sure thing.

What bothered me that draft is us taking Daquan Cook and trading him along with a future 2nd rounder to Miami for Jason Smith. We somehow tipped our hand to Miami who was picking right before us and Pat Riley took advantage of it.
