OT: NBA 2k association

Postby Slinky O on Mon Nov 02, 2009 6:42 pm

Well 2 things:
1.) I'm starting an association in NBA 2k10 and really don't know who to use as my team. I usually don't homer with the Bucks because I always am picky about having their stats in game reflect what they are in real life and what not, so I thought I'd open it up to all the basketball brains on here wondering which team I should use (I normally like a team that is not going to be a champion squad, but can fight for like a 8th seed, I normally like kind of bringing a team up from nothing to something in that regard. And preferably I'd like a young guard to build on) since I'm super indecisive this year.

and

2.) I used to do this a long time ago, but I would do "online franchises". Basically, I'll play my games, do all my managing, signings/trades/drafting, etc...and then update it to a thread dedicated to that franchise. The website I did it on folded and haven't done it since. Since this i "realGM" I was thinking I could do this on here if people would read it or what not since I'm being "virtual gm". If it HAD to be the Bucks to be in this forum that could solve issue #1, but if not that be preferable.

Can you guys help me out/give me your feed back?

The Memphis Grizzlies. Plain and simple.

1. Memphis
2. Oklahoma
3. Golden State
4. Nets
5. Kings

I would pick any one of these teams. Especially, the Grizzlies and Kings. Love em... One could rock with Tyreke Evans in Sac town and Jason Thompson. Stephen Curry and Anthony Randolph in GS.

Russell Westbrook, Green and Durant much less Harden. OJ Mayo, Conley, Thabeet and Gay are awesome too. They also have a very intriguing bench.
You have a host of young stud players on the Nets Terrence Williams, Charles Douglas Roberts, Devin Harris, Courtney Lee, etc...
Those are the 8th seed challenging teams I would would suggest you take.
I might join you and do this myself. Seems like a blast. I would have a hard time deciding between the Grizzlies or Kings. Or hell, even the Nets!
“These guys are competitors,” Hammond said of the Bucks players...“When they step on the floor, they play to win and expect to win..." ~Um, Ok...We'll see.

Yeah, those were some of the teams I was thinking about. I didn't think about Mayo with the Grizz. My friend is doing the Nets, so I'm not doing them. I really like the idea of Tyreke Evans with the Kings. The other two I thought about were the Rockets with Brooks an Ariza and Chicago with Rose (but I kind of have some divisional beef with them being a Bucks fan). Thunder I was using last year so I kind of want to shy away from them. Golden State is interesting with all their guards...

Short list is:
Rockets, Kings, Grizzlies, Golden State, and Chicago. I really don't know who to pick...they all have something...

I'm going with the Kings or Chicago (not sure if I want to suffer through an entire Kings season since they are lousy, I kinda like Rose more than Evans). Would you guys follow a a thread if I made one going over all my games and moves as a gm?

It's hilarious how unstoppable Redd is in this game (as in, he hardly misses any three pointers). I completely dismantled the T'Wolves earlier, 125-75. Redd went off for 41, Jennings had 21 points and 14 assists and Bogut had 23 points and 13 boards.

Depends what sliders/difficulty you use. My sliders kind of make it hard to nail shots unless they are open, meant for 12 min quarters. BJ is still under rated, his potential is only a 77...

I play on Superstar difficulty but think I should start turning down the sliders. They're at 50 right now but they still tend to make WAY too many shots. Lots of games I can shoot in the mid 50's-around 60% with ease. This is with a Bucks team that has an offensive rating below 70. Jennings does have some low(er) ratings in this game, but he seems to be pretty good regardless. I've had at least two Chris Paul like games with him already.

The computers sliders are at 45 whenever I play and I can usually get some pretty realistic stats out of them. Anything higher and they are damn near unstoppable.

If you want a team that is completely offensively unstoppable try out the Grizz. If you can get around their defensive problems, they are amazing. OJ Da Juice Mayo will hit about 80 percent of 3's if you get him to shoot in rhythm off of a crossover just right, and Rudy Gay cannot be denied to the basket for a dunk.
Ersan Drago will break you.

I always wait until December til start a Franchise. Like you said, Jennings only has 77 potential right now. I'd let them update the rosters and make it closer to reality first.

Rosters are updated basically everyday...
