Man I can only see one issue with the spurs this season. In the front court we have good depth but lack true size. Duncan at 7foot and Bonner at 6'10" after that were thin and Ratliff is 6'10" but he is 37 so theres limits on his playing time. We need Ian to produce or we need another option at the center. Facing the big three of the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, Magic, Pistons, and Bulls will be hard for our front court. Break it down by the min. Duncan, Bonner, Blair, Mcdyess, and Ratliff Give us our 96 front court min and 38pts 28reb. and 2.66bpg.Those numbers are aginst two sub par teams also. That wont cut it come playoff time when we see big front courts every night.

Point well taken but thats not something we didn't know from the being of the season. Dice can handle his own. Plus playoffs is all about match up problems. Tony is the real key. He gives us that dominate match up that no other title contender has...a great point guard.

RJ also gives us a slight edge or keeps us at least even at the 3 spot on most teams. Manu and the bench is the other real key to making this all work. Our bench is far better than any other title contenders bench outside of Boston...C's have looked strong so far.

I would love to see a Camby type player or bigger C but those days are over. Its not going to work for this team. The shut them down D we had on all the championships is gone. We no longer have a legitimate shot blocker outside of TD and Ratliff (in limited play). We now have to rely on speed, fast break points and three pointers. We are ALWAYS going to have a very good defensive team I am just saying the shut them down "boring" D are long gone.

Then maybe a player from the AK47 or Gerald Wallace FAST players who can play even the center in a small ball lineup.

We have to consider that McDyess has played little so far and sat out the Sacto game with the flu. I believe we will play him more with Duncan as we meet opponents that are bigger (like Boston and Cleveland). They are both excellent offensive players with high IQs and should form a dangerous duo. On the other end, noone is really a true center (or seven-footer) but both are great defenders and won't back down against anyone. In a word, our bigs might lack height but don't lack size - DeJuan Blair can bang with the biggest of them - just like Malik Rose did for us. The only thing that I'm concerned about is injuries. Seeing Tony stay down in that Hornets game almost stopped my heartbeat before seeing the replay and realizing it's not his knee but getting the wind knocked out

On a slightly different note, I think we need a third point guard (in case of an injury and for garbage time) and I won't be surprised to see either Mahinmi or Hairston get dropped some time soon. I had some hopes for Malik and I'd rather see him stay while Mahinmi for me is not going to break in the rotation at any time and I don't think he'll ever turn into a player for us.

Very true we are a smart strong front court. As far as pgs maybe antonio daniels or Jannero Pargo good for 3rd string anyway. I vote Ian as the next player cut just make sure you dont break his hand as you hand him his walking papers lol.

I'm really not too worried about, like batmana said we really haven't seen much of McDyess so far this year and we really truely don't know what kind of impact he's going to have on our interior defense and our overall defense yet. I'll start to worry about this if late in the season when Duncan and McDyess are playing big minutes and our frontcourt is on defense.

He's not starting because Matt Bonner has some incriminating photos of Greg Poppovich. That's the only logical explanation.

I said this before... on paper, we have a deep front line only because we have so many guys. That doesn't mean our frontline is among the best. What's the point of having 7 good Big Guys if we only play 4 guys anyways?

When you compare our top 4 big men againts other's top 4 big men, how good are we?

Put it this way, is Haislip a definite rotation player if he were on other contenders? How about Mahinmi? How about Ratliff? Bonner? They'll be lucky to get 5 minutes a game right?

Dice and Blair maybe on rotation with other teams but they surely won't be starters. That alone is a sign of how weak our frontline still is.

Take the 2nd best big men out of the contenders and put them in San Antonio.. will they start?

Say put Ilgauskas or Varejao in SA right now, they'll start. Put even Gortat or Rashard Lewis in SA and they'll start. Put Rasheed Wallace or Kendrick Perkins in SA and they'll start. Put Odom or Bynum in SA and they'll start.

Put Dice (our 2nd best big) on their team and they'll come off the bench.

Frontcourt is still an issue even thou we're stronger than last year with the addition of Blair and Dice.
