Sixers vs. Celtics

Postby ankle420breaker on Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:36 am

We're up against arguably the best team in the league tonight. I'd just like to see them keep it competitive unlike the Orlando game. We do a pitiful job defending the 3 point line, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Sheed, Ray, House, and Pierce hurt us throughout the game. I'd also be surprised if Lou can manage another nice game with Rondo on him tonight. Nonetheless, should be interesting. Tip off is at 7pm.

Hopefully the guys are jacked up for this one. It would be encouraging to see Brand and/or Speights to have a big game against Boston's bigs. Look for Willie to get more minutes tonight to chase Allen and House around the 3 point line.

I don't worry about Green's defense at all but its just that he's so inconsistent with his jumpshots. And his decision making (on offence) kind of worries me alittle bit.(Like creating his own shot when you know its not going in). So yeah I wouldn't be opposed to giving Green more minutes tonight.

A close game would feel like a victory ...

This Boston squad is easily one of the best teams ever

Lifelong Celtics fan here who has recently moved to Philadelphia (but still goes to school in New England):

I'll be living full-time in the Philadelphia area after this school year, so I'll be seeing plenty of the 76ers from here on. Celtics will always be my favorite team, but I'm definitely a fan of some of your young guys (Lou, Iggy, Thaddeus).

I'd be lying if I said I thought the Celtics would lose this game, but I definitely think it will be a good test for the Cs to see how they play against a young, very athletic team. It should be the hardest game for the Celtics thus far outside of Cleveland and I expect Philly to hang in there for sure.

The sixers will lose no doubt but the game should be interesting if the sixers come to play.
The matchup are interesting as well.

Louwill vs. Rondo: They have a similar bodytype and speed to their game. Louwill might be a better scorer but rondo is better at everything else and is known for his defense so he might shut louwill down and cause a couple of turnovers. This will be a big test for louwill , we will see ...
Andre vs Rayallen: Two differnt type of SG's , dre will probally have to chase ray around to prevent him from going on a shooting tear, dre could get him into foul trouble, dre might go off and pierce will have to gaurd him.
Thadyoung vs Paul Peirce: Im pretty sure peirce is gonna go off on thad, thad's defense is not where it needs to be and peirce is just...the truth. Hoping that thad wont get into foul trouble and can get his shot going.
Brand vs Garnett: Would of been a good matchup 4 yrs ago. But right now trying to figure out how many blocks garnett will have on brand. Sammy might have to guard garnett.
SammyD vs Perkins: Marresse Speights will have to play well.

I sure hope that this isn't how EJ lines them up. I would have Iguodala on Pierce, Young on Allen, Brand on Perkins, and Dalembert on KG. Pierce has an all around game and Iguodala is better suited for defending all facets of it. Allen doesn't offer as much as he once did and is primarily a spot up shooter. Young should be able to stick to him all day long and should use his long arms to make it difficult for Allen to get clean looks. I'd much rather have Young guard Allen up close and force Allen to try and beat him off the dribble. If he does, I'd sooner live with that than give Allen any open looks. As far as Sammy and Brand are concerned, I would always put Brand on the bigger player, who isn't as quick or cannot shoot with any kind of range.

In actuality, if I could understand what EJ was thinking with some of his defensive schemes, I would think that Philly should be able to match up fairly well with Boston. They could also possibly cause some problems if they are able to get out and run. That said, I don't expect to win, but hope to be in it during the 4th with a chance to pull it out.

Thaddeus Young should guard Ray Allen. On the basis that it's the lesser of two evils. Pierce would just burn Young. Young's man-to-man defense hasn't stood out to me at all this year.

I've loved Rondo's game since the playoffs. Dude's been sick and turned it to another level. Don't go to the General NBA Fourms though and say that. They're like philly.com posters when it comes to Rondo.

How can you practically avg a triple-double in the playoffs and not command a legitimate salary? Rajon Rondo was nice settling for an 11M base salary for his next contract. Should've been 2-3 million more.

I love the way Lou Williams has been playing, and I think he's going to come out tonight as he's come out every-night. People have put the bulls-eye on his back, saying that he can't do this job.

Well, we better get used to seeing Lou do his thing, as an efficient starter :).
