Let's talk about Joakim Noah

Postby anorexorcism on Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:17 pm

In all the worry and panic about how horrible Rose looks, or the weekly tirades about Tyrus (I am in the camp of he's playing great but apparently people think otherwise), we seem to have completely been taking the play of one individual for granted. Joakim Noah:

12 PPG
9 RPG
60% FG
PER 24.0
18.1% USG
1.7 BPG

Holy holy holy crap. How did we ever luck into this kid? Easily the best player on this team, right now. Top 25 in the league in PER. I know, only 3 games. But wow.

So let's use this thread to gush about something.
I hate the Bulls front office.
I will always miss Ben Gordon being on the Bulls.
Tyrus Thomas will explode in 2010 - REVISED: Actually, sorry - in 2011, with another team.
Bulls record prediction: 50-32

He would be even better if Vinny played him more.

28mins per game is unacceptible based on how he is playing.

^^No worries. If he continues to play this well there is no way Vinny can jerk him around, he will get fired if he keeps that up.

Im a big fan of Noah, always have been...

I'm just wondering why his defensive rebounding is so low...

If he picks that up and doesn't lose any offensive rebounding he'll be a major force...

Interesting to see tonight against the Bucks. Noah absolutely beasted them in preseason but they will have Bogut and that will make a difference.

Noah should be playing 30-35 minutes a game. He's not a developing rookie anymore, he's already developed into a good contributor and should continue to get better. His offense is slowly coming along but more importantly, he takes smart shots, and usually ends up helping our efficiency if the other scorers are actually doing their jobs. When other scorers break down, then Vinny is tempted to take Noah out, because the overall offense can really start to suffer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he is 3 for 3 on jumpshots, too

When our other scorers break down, Vinny should be doing what 90% of other coaches with a dominant big man would be doing. Throw the ball into Noah and let him create. Yes, he is that good that he can create on his own now. And if the defense clogs around him, he'll kick it out.

I'd hate to discount the fact that Noah should be getting more minutes (because I strongly agree)... But Lets not forget that we have Brad Miller...

So if you suggest that we should play him more at PF, then you're obviously not in favor of the "Tyrus should play more" theory...

It's rough to figure out especially for a young coach like Vinny... Right now i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as far as minute rotation goes, because it's early in the season and I feel he's just trying to figure what works best...

Unfortunately most fans feel they already know, even though they can't get an agreement between themselves...

But I will say this... One way or another Noah will get his minutes...

Noah should be seeing all his minutes at the 5 (32), with Brad filling in for 16 minutes or so. That's it.
Tyrus should be getting 32 minutes at the 4, with Taj filling in for 16.

It's that simple. But Vinny instead is going

Taj/Noah
Noah/Brad
Tyrus/Brad
Tyrus/Noah
Tyrus/Taj

Make up your damn mind VDN

I give Noah (and actually VDN for encouraging him) a ton of credit for making that ugly-@$$ elbow set shot go in (I do think he's 3for3).

If we aren't trying to manage Tyrus' ego, we should be starting & finishing games with Noah & Miller both on the floor.

Thank you Eddy Curry for Noah!
We will do very fine again in 09-10!

I said in another post, its not Miller thats the problem, its Taj.

Taj is taking both Noah's and Tyrus minutes.

The only way Noah or Tyrus's minutes go up, is if Taj's minutes go down.

18 mins per so far for Taj is way too much at this stage.

I hear what you're saying but bottom line is this and most bulls fans need to get this through their thick skulls. This Bulls team is not winning a championship this year. Brad Miller and Salmons in all likelihood are gone after this season. Vinny too needs to understand this because obviously he's coaching to keep his job not to develop his young players. Noah and Thomas need to get as much opportunity as possible, in Tyrus' case, he need to get minutes in the 4th and needs to not be pulled out of a game in which he is playing well which is what Vinny does a lot. If Vinny keepspulling thomas during critical moments or refuses to put in thomas during important period in the game, it will hurt his confidence. In the case of Noah, he just needs to play more, i'm sorry but Brad Miller does do this team good but the bulls dont look as smooth when he's on the court. Bottom line is, Vinny stinks as a coach for young players, he relies too much on his vets and doesn't trust his players.

I know he's made three, and I've watched all the games and don't recall him missing any.
