Camby more likely than Kaman

Postby MavsFan41 on Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:05 pm

13. A source close to the Mavs tells me that if the Clippers are in "sale" mode in December, he thinks Camby is a more likely target for the Mavs than Kaman, because Camby's contract is much more favorable, and because the Mavs have been leery of Kaman's medical issues.

Of added relevance, even though Camby would be an expiring contract, the Mavs would get him with full Bird rights intact; that means they could sign him to a new deal in the summer at any mutually agreeable amount, without having to use any of their annual cap exceptions or 2010 trade assets to do so, or could perhaps include him as an asset as part of a sign-and-trade.

Mark my words...Ricky Rubio WILL be the next best PG in this league. If only we could make him a MAVERICK.

Camby definately makes us better... I would love the deal, unless it was for J-Ho or someone like that. I think Dirk would probably push for Kaman though since they both played for Germany.

What would the Mavs have that the Clippers want? Camby is already an expiring contract.

I agree, no deal if Jho is involved. Camby seems like he would fit well here. He fits in with what we do as far as setting screens and defending the middle, plus he would bring some new faculties to the center position that we really need. We would get significatly better if the most talent we had to give up was jj barrea and drew gooden. For a Kaman deal I'm afraid of what we would have to give up, you'd have to feel he was your guy FOR the future.

JJB/Gooden/Shawne

4

Camby

Kidd/Terry/Roddy/(Armstrong??)
Howard/Terry/Carroll
Marion/Ross
Dirk/Hump/Thomas
Damp/Camby

This trade does not make much sense for Clips. They dont get much for a valuable piece. Would mavs include a 2012 1st to get Camby for possibly 3 yrs? I guess gooden and JJB would have slight value for clips, and shawne might be able to play there since he aint playing here. I dont see why clips would make this trade with mavs

Mavs need to start thinking about life after Damp anyway so I'd rather have Kaman. If we use the DUST chip in the next 9 mos to upgrade the team, we better get back a legit center or have one in place. I'd be more than happy with Kaman as our long term solution at center and then maybe use the Dust chip to go after a decent SG and possible backup center.
I'd do any deal that would net us Kaman at the expense of losing only Howard.

There is no way we could make a deal for Kaman that doesnt include Josh. There is no reason the Clippers would just give away there best player ( this season ) only for some kind of garbage....

Are you guys nuts? Clippers are not about to trade Camby for JJ and Gooden.

I would trade Josh for Camby, or Terry. Although Josh's contract is better so I'd rather it be Terry.

There's really no way the Clips trade Camby. They love what he brings to the team and he's great for Griffin and Jordan. He's also expiring and the Clips have eyes on 2010.

The only deal possible would be at the deadline and would have to be for a nice young piece along with and expiring.

That is the explanation of my trade. Those are the pieces that LAC can get back from dallas, which is not appealing. They would also want Matt Carroll and Tim Thomas as much as most mavs fans do, which is not at all.

Marcus Camby for Drew Gooden, Shawne Williams, and James Singleton works.
I think that's all the Mavs's considering. This allows them to save some money.
They can at best get Calathes in such deal.

C - Dampier / Camby / Voskuhl
PF - Nowitzki / Humphries / Gooden
SF - Marion / Thomas / Ross
SG - Howard / Terry / Carroll
PG - Kidd / Barea / Beaubois

I've been a big supporter of trading for Camby, but if Dampier keeps playing like he is now I wouldn't give up anything of value to get him. Damp is rebounding and blocking shots just as well as Camby, he plays better post defense, and he's scoring nearly as much without taking shots away from the rest of the team.

If we could find maybe an 18 mpg energy guy with some size (not Hump) to backup Dampier and keep his minutes down I think we're set.

I think we should still go after him Rand. Having Damp or Camby in the lineup for the entire game would be a huge plus in the POs.
Camby is a good help defender which would be great in helping to slow down guys like Kobe.
I also think he would be a good fit with the chemistry of the team.

I wouldn't give up core players for him but I would part with roddy and a future pick along with Gooden if that is what it takes.
