Andre Miller?

Postby Master Shake on Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:34 pm

If our point guard play struggles throughout the year, any chance we make a play for Miller?

He's the odd man out already in Portland... I'm thinking maybe Bynum and Maxiell for Miller?

Miller's got a big deal, but he really could be the distributor this team needs and have Stuck come of the bench and score.

Obviously this can't happen till after December 15th, but we'll know once Rip comes back and we continue to struggle if this might be a path worth exploring.

i've wanted Miller for years on this team. The dude is criminally underrated b/c he cant shoot but he makes his teammates better and has the occasional offensive explosion. However we would have him, Rip, Gordon and Stuck who all need big minutes and one (prob Stuck) will get shafted ala Bynum will be once Rip gets back. Plus Portland would want Prince in any deal

Maybe a Prince/Bynum/Max for Miller/Outlaw deal

We'd become

Miller/Stuck
Rip/Stuck
Outlaw/Daye/Summers
CV/Jerebko/
Ben/Kwame/Wilcox

not a lot of D but def more balanced.

Personally i would have done soemthing along these lines. (Note this is a best case scenario)

I would have given up Stuck/Prince/(whatever else) for Amare and signed Miller in the offseason. Artest wanted to come here and we could have been

Miller/Bynum
Rip/Afflalo (Gordon)
Artest/Daye(or Summers/Jerebko)
Amare/Max
Kwame/Ben (assuming PHX still bought him out)

dont have the math done but i think we'd have had enough cash to give Gordon his deal and that team would be stacked and could compete with anyone in the East and West

Maybe two years ago... this team is going in another youthful direction now... plumbers puddy isn't going to help fill the reservoir.
This year we need to find out if Stuckey can turn the corner (or be moved).

I agree with this. Its do or die time for Stuck and I want him to have a proper go at it all year. I'm not bailing by Dec regardless of our record. If anything we'd b looking to get younger too no?

What gives Portland the right to ask for Prince? They want Prince in any deal for us taking one of their young small forwards or Rudy. For Miller? Who's old, has a big contract, and isn't worth anything to their team? Hardly.

Bynum and Maxiell is enough to get it done. It's trading one bad contract for another basically, and we add sweetner in Bynum.

I may post something on the trade board...

Miller would be a very good add-on, and I agree he's very underrated, especially if we decide to run more. However that would just put more pressure on Joe to move Rip, and we may wound up getting much less for him. We'd have 4 starting caliber guards on our roster, and all of them would demand minutes. If we're trading for Miller, it better be a damn 3-way sending Stuckey or Rip for a big man. So here's what I thought of:

Detroit gets:
Andre Miller
Marreese Speights
Jason Kapono (to be cut and returned to Philly)

Detroit gives:
Jason Maxiell
Rip Hamilton
Will Bynum

Portland gets:
Jason Maxiell
Will Bynum

Portland gives:
Andre Miller

Philadelphia gets:
Rip Hamilton

Philadelphia gives:
Marreese Speights
Willie Green
Jason Kapono (to be cut and returned)

What we look like:

Miller/Stuckey
Gordon/Stuckey
Prince/Daye/Summers
Villanueva/Speights
Wallace/Brown/Speights

Not bad looking :)

I'm really not too worried about our guard play, but even if I was Miller would be nothing more than a stop-gap. I like him as a player, but if we continue to struggle I'd rather try and move Rip/Prince for picks/prospects/expirings and try to build through the draft/FA. Adding Miller would only get us a worse ping-pong ball.

Steve Blake is the starter, Miller is the backup...and somebody wants to trade for Andre Miller. HES stuck behind Steve Blake. Not Chris Paul, not Mike Bibby, not Tony Parker, STEVE BLAKE.

If any team should trade for Andre Miller, I'd say the Knicks. Hes not the best fit for them, but its better then Duhon or the sudden two game reemergence of Larry Hughes.

dude, Portland is retarded. Andre Miller is twice the player Steve Blake is... dude is legit.

For a guy who cant shoot, last season he hit his FG at 47 percent, gave out almost 7 asts and had less than 2.5 TO's a game. as a bonus he hit his FT at 83 percent. we could use a guy with his court vision.
