The 'Big O'/S.Moncrief/B.Jennings...The Era Begins

Postby MilBucksBackOnTop06 on Tue Nov 03, 2009 8:03 pm

Some say this Jennings mania is "getting out of control."

I beg to differ after seeing just two performances and watching NBA basketball as long as almost any in here.

When you look back at Bucks history in particular, you can see three difference makers that shaped this franchise and turned around our fortunes almost single handedly when surround around a great coach and staff and the right mix of players at the right time in NBA history.

The great Oscar Robertson. One Sir Sidney Moncrief. And almost 25 years later, Brandon Jennings!

Now I am not comparing Oscar and Sidney overall....yet. But when you look at era's that is what you are talking about when you are a Bucks fan who has been around and seen some great teams.

Oscar won when we brought him over as a missing piece and teamed him up with Kareem with the nonsense Larry Costello who is much like Skiles is. And then in the Nellie era we drafted this great guard Sidney Moncrief, and now Brandon Jennings.

I will come back to this thread later after the Bulls game, but I will start it up now to whet your appetite. But if Jennings comes out and drops a triple double type game without Redd tonite I will be even more estatic and excited as I am now.
“These guys are competitors,” Hammond said of the Bucks players...“When they step on the floor, they play to win and expect to win..." ~Um, Ok...We'll see.

I find it hilarious that the same who jumped to conclusions on Sessions after his 20+ assists efforts will now all of a sudden say, 'whoa, its only two games with Jennings."
But there is a difference between the two. One can have a sound good fundamental game with great stats by default, and another can have an impactful start that immediately makes the entire team look good.

Oscar came to us at the end of perhaps the best all around career of any player in history and had a young Lew Alcindor, Bob Dandridge and Jon McGlocklin and others to make better.
Sidney was part of a great draft class and pick by Don Nelson...and Nellie fit a great team or work hard play hard teamates around him.
Now if we can get some guys around Jennings, we can be back on the winning track as well. You go look at the parallels and you get my meaning too.

I gotta go...I hear my favorites Dennis Krause and Ted Davis doing the game in the background with the Bucks up 21-8 and the 'Young Buck' Jennings and Warrick going off....and I can hardly concentrate!

Wouldn't you know it, the one work night I can't get out to Chicago the Bucks are showing out in Chicago tonite and I couldn't be there !?

LOL...ironies of ironies.

Everybody is excited about Jennings. There aren't many posters(if any) saying "it's only 3 games." We can see talent when it's there.
