Would KP fire Nate mid-season?

Postby Il_Devo on Wed Nov 04, 2009 5:09 pm

If Blazers continue to slide deeper under .500, do you think KP would fire Nate mid-season, or is Nate's job secure for the rest of this season (at least) even if the Blazers do lose many games?

I personally would like to see Monty Williams take over as interim coach...

Probably not.

But Paul Allen might.

Im pretty sure that nate will not be fired during the year. if it happend i would be very suprised, but i do think Monty would be a decent coach but a rookie coach may not be a improvment for us even tho hes been with the team for awhile

Saying that being 2-3 is a "deep slide" under .500 is like saying you're being crushed under the debt from your nickel poker game.

I honestly wish it would be considered.. it honestly seems like Nate purposely puts out inferior lineups to piss off Blazers fans.. Heck, I'm getting pissed writing this right now. Wtf is that lineup with Andre Miller and Steve Blake? Seriously? If any coach that had a clue about judging talent / chemistry ran this team they would have either Rudy or Martell in with Andre. And would play Steve Blake the backup minutes he deseres. Hell, Rudy deserves to play pg before Blake. Nate needs to pull his head out of his butt or get canned.

As good as it would seem at this point, I'm gonna say it wouldn't be in this teams best interest to fire Nate this season unless we fall out of the playoff picture, which seems unlikely at this point. While nates coaching is flawed, I can't imagine this team would perform any better with a new offensive and defensive gameplan. In the offseason, the guys would have months to get the hang of a new system, but if Nate were fired right now, they'd only really have a day or so before they'd be forced to adjust on VERY short notice

KP might but if you remember correctly, the hiring of Nate was a total Paul Allen call. PA was enthralled with Nate and he was the one who wooed him to come to Portland. Trust me....Nate wasn't a KP guy. KP dealt with the fact that PA loved Nate and he knew that he wasn't going anywhere for awhile. KP and Nate disagree on many things.

Thats interesting. And encouraging. I wasn't following the Blazers at that time, so did not know KP wasn't the driver of the Nate hiring.

Depending on when the firing occurred Portland could adapt by the end of the season. Also considering how we've done offensively a new system might work better straight away and at the very least a new coach might t least get a good rotation going
"As coaches, when we scout Portland we kind of put him in the same category as Kobe [Bryant], LeBron [James], Dwyane Wade," Scott answered. "We treat him the same. He's that good."

i don't think nate deserves to get fired. yet. sure his offensive sets seem predictable. but i think andre miller has a lot more to blame. look at last night. he was just padding his stats it seems. 11 assists and not much else except forced shots.

blazers will 'turn it around' when andre miller starts. not because miller is better than blake, but because miller will finally play harder and do what's best in the team's best interest.

i don't think you can pad your stats in a close game, and get the bulk of your assist in the 1st half.
i do believe that there's a power struggle going on with nate and miller.
