Howard says shut it

C Dwight Howard, who looked like Larry Bird on the free-line line Sunday in Toronto, said he told everybody around him — teammates, coaches, etc. — to stop giving him advice.

Howard, a career 60 percent free-throw shooter, hit 14-of-16 against the Raptors after making only 7-of-17 coming into the game.

"Everybody is always asking me about it," Howard said. "Everybody telling me what to do and what not to do. I'm like, 'Just let me shoot. I've worked on it all summer.' Now I just feel good. I'm not worried about making it or missing it."

D12 is currently shooting 61% at the FT line so far this season

heres the evolution of d12's free throw technique using random google pics:

He needs to take his left hand off of the top of the ball among other things.

Why? The left hand acts as a guide hand and has no effect on his shot. It starts to come off right before he starts his follow through. If it did have an effect on his shot, the ball would not rotate end over end.

I'm just going to write "Sample Size" in every thread I read for the next 10 games. It seems simpler than writing out arguments.

He's shooting 65% on FTs through 5 games, and 78% in November. And that doesn't mean a thing.

Sample size sample size sample size.

He doesn't mean the left hand shouldn't be on the ball. It would just be easier if it were on the side where it should be.

Left hand on top seems like there would be a better chance of throwing off the accuracy, IMO. Left hand on the side acts as a better guide.

The left hand on top of the ball may restrict the release and/or misdirect the release.

Twofold problem.
