His rebounding percentage has fluctuated between 17.2% and 19.5% every year of his career. This year it is 9.8%.
He is averaging only 5.6 reb/gm

Jefferson was always a "positioning" rebounder. Not a leaper. He seems to have relatively good mobility. I know its early and it will take months to fully recover from his injury, but I wonder if he's afraid to "mix it up" for fear of being hurt again. In this instance, thats more of what I see that lack of "timing". He's starting to successfully use his spin moves. Those take great timing. I think its more fear of being hurt again.
