I'm not a fan of the "Trade Al Jefferson" threads, but if I was to look at a "win now" team that could use a legit PF, I'd look at the Wizards. I don't know how I feel about this one.

WAS GETS: Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes

MIN GETS: Caron Butler, JaVale McGee, Andre Blatche

Why for WAS: They get a legit PF/C, and have more negotiating power when the struggling Brendan Haywood negotiates for a new deal. Jefferson's low post scoring gets them to the level of the true contenders, particularly with all the good jumpshooters in WAS. Mike Miller/Gomes can play SF for Butler.

Why for MIN: I've always liked Caron Butler, even at 29. The kid's from Wisconsin so MIN might not seem like Siberia. JaVale McGee has Love-like numbers last year, though he's struggling now. A young 7-foot center would be nice. Blatche has been tearing up the league this season so far, 16-7 with a FG 60.3%. Their contracts are like this, so its a minor hit to our cap space (or more precisely, we wouldn't remove all of Gomes).

Not terrible, but not great either. Caron could be one of those guys targeted by Kahn in a mid/offseason trade. Hes a very good player, but he wouldn't strap us with a long contract. Blatche and McGee are both interesting prospects that I still don't know much about.

I'd pay to watch a frontcourt of Brewer, Hollins, McGee though.....

Good Big men are hard to find. Why would you trade Al, to get a 29 year old player? [I assuming Butler is the key pick up.] The wolves will start being serious about playoffs in 2 years, when Butler will be 31 and Al would have been 26.

The Wolves have a young back up big man Pecherov who is playing well. 11 pts and 4.4 rebounds in 17 minutes a game is very nice.

Wait for Al to get healthy. Once he is healthy and dominating in the low post again, we can think about trading him, if his team defense isn't up to par. But we should get a legitimate star for him.

Caron Butler has actually spent a lot of time in the Twin Cities and donated money to local charities. I don't think it ended up happening, but there was a point in time a couple years ago that he was going to donate around $1mil to a local YMCA to remodel their daycare.

Blatche is looking to have finally come around, and McGee has talent as well. I actually kind of like this trade once Love comes back.

Not sure that Washington does this, though. They're an aging team and I'm sure they'll appreciate having Blatche and McGee for the rebuilding process soon to come.

Blatche seems like a decent prospect, but not what Al is. I can't imagine McGee getting much playing time. 6 pts/3 rebs. isn't really Love-like numbers, even though I see he played 5 less minutes on average and Butler doesn't seem to be an ideal fit. I'm one (of the few?) who would much rather have Rudy Gay.

McGee was the only rookie to lead Love in .. I think it might have been PER (maybe it was some other stat that I put more credibility in). Anyone recall?

I'll admit, I have never seen him in action, just quickly looking at his stats. But with Hollins and Stewie's recent level of play, it seems like it could be a bit of a logjam once Love comes back.

I used to work at the YMCA he was going to donate the money to for 4 years as a trainer. I then transfered to a different department at a different YMCA for a year, then I left the company completely for a different career route.

Then I think you and I might have met at a Dave and Busters? Tahna and I are pretty good friends. We've pretty much been like brother and sister for 5 years now, but we haven't really talked a lot the last couple months. Busy schedules.
