Big Baby NFL

Postby magictime09 on Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:46 pm

"When I become an All-Star in the NBA, when I become a great player in the NBA, then I'll try football. One of my dreams has always been to play football."

Davis was an excellent high school football player.

"I definitely could have made it to the NFL," Davis said.

He doesn't have a specific position in mind in the NFL.

"It don't matter," he said. "I just want to play."

I don't know much about football but Id like to see if he could make it. I would want to see him as a receiver or a quarterback just so I can see him get tackled. I heard Shaq making a similar comment about wanting to be in the NFL. I wonder how they would do in the NFL especially being so tall. I don't think any NFL player is 6'8" let alone 7'1". Obviously they have the bulk to be linemen and are too slow to be receivers (at least Shaq is) but could they really make it to be in the NFL?

Dwight would make for a monster DE.

Matt Barnes led the state of CA for TD receptions when he was in HS.

Lebron/AI were both all state football players and had multiple D1 college offers.

Led the STATE that ridiculous. How did he wind up in the NBA? (I'm not complaining hes a great player). Did he end up playing in college?

He wanted too and I'm pretty sure he had an offer (from UCLA, where he played his college ball) but the basketball staff wouldn't let him (to avoid injuries). I learned about this in the preseason game against the hawks. If nothing else, those games are great for the announcers to talk about trivia.

Can't blame him for going with the NBA. Much more longevity and much less chance for injury.

Big Baby would be a monster defensive lineman. I could definitely see him as a DT.

I've always wondered if the NBA made an NFL team, how they would do. I see you guys mentioned AI, LeBron, Barnes.

QB: AI/Kidd
RB: Wade/Arenas
WR: LeBron, Barnes, JRich, VC, TMac, Kobe, Richard Jefferson
TE: Dwight, Blake Griffin
OL: Perkins, Millsap, Shaq, Adonal Foyle

DLine: Big Baby, Brandon Bass, Boozer, Maxiell, Craig Smith
LB: Ron Artest, Shawn Marion, Andre Miller, Caron Butler
CB: Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Nate Robinson
Safeties: Baron Davis, Chauncey Billups, Deron Williams

Barnes was very close to quitting basketball and trying to play in the NFL before he got his big break in Golden State.

Speaking of NBA players in another sport, I was watching a UFC show the other night and I was thinking about which player would make the best UFC fighter. Brandon Bass immediately comes to mind. Built like a tank but explosive off his feet.
Lebron James as he is attacking the basket vs. Gortat: "I immediately regret this decision!"

That would be a fun game to watch. Talk about mismatches for the opposing team. Maybe this will be the future for NBA players who still feel they have something to prove (after they retire). Its better than moving onto baseball. I don't think they would take the risk though...I think Turk would make a decent QB. I wonder if he has ever thrown a football in his life.

Oh and for UFC...I think Nelson would be a beast. Matter of fact I think Williams and Nelson would be a good matchup. But I don't want to think about them fighting so Nelson v. Mo Williams
Other good match-ups:
Lebron and Carmello
Kobe and...Jordan (dont worry I'm not comparing there game but there the same height and prob around the same weight)
Ariza v. Artest
Nowinski v. B. Lopez/Gasol
R. Wallace v. Nene/Howard?? (Don't know if Howard is much of a fighter after all the **** hes been putting up with)
Bass v. Keyon Martin

During the tale of the tape, Brandon Bass would always have the reach advantage. The man is deadly from 17 Feet.
