OT League Pass Question

Postby Garbs_7 on Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:23 pm

Looking to get International League Pass but I have a friend who currently has it and says he will share his password with me as he is under the impression two people can watch games from the same account at the same time. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Also, I have read some people complaining about no sound / bad quality etc of International LP. Has it improved and how bad is it? Thanks

I dunno if one can share his account (I think only the country's IP is being checked, since I can use my account at work as well, but I dont know what will happen if you watch simultaniously), the quality has been better so far than it was last year.

I took the new option, League Pass Broadband Premium, and what I saw until now (but only watched replays) were better quality than last year.

Also the DVR option is quite brilliant and they keep the archive up until 48 hours which gives me plenty of time to watch the game(s), and you now can skip to whatever part of the game you want instead of waiting for the scheduled replay without the 'zap' option.

EDIT : there's some stuff about sharing passwords on ilp.nba.com in their terms and conditions page: (http://ilp.nba.com/Pages/en/TermsandConditions.aspx). Dunno if that's just legal stuff to scare you away from sharing though)

I used a better computer and it rocks. Don't know about 2 using it at once but I'm glad I paid for it. So far I'm watching Bucks games twice and the best other games in between. :)

What do you guys feel is a fair price per hour of entertainment?

Difficult question. I pay 29,95 a month now to see the Bucks games. I sometimes watch other games on it, so roughly I pay 2$ a game, which is doable for me as long as the quality is OK. So I guess that's fair allright. (if that's what you meant anyway)

I'm paying much less than a dollar a game so I'd say it's above and beyond good value.

That's how I feel too. I don't understand why so many people want to spend time looking for illegal links, or trying to skirt the rules when the NBA is being so reasonable with pricing. If I watch 75 games at 3 hours each, that's 225 hours of entertainment, or 40 cents an hour. Just how cheap would they have to get before the majority would think it's wrong to steal instead of paying? Or is there no such price?

I wish they had a pay-per-game system. I'd rather pay $2-$3 to watch whichever Bucks games I want to see instead of $100-$150 for all of them plus every other team I don't particularly care about. With a 50gb on-peak download limit shared between three people and a 23" full HD monitor I'd probably have to either upgrade my internet plan or watch the games after midnight. Neither are ideal.

If you don't care about watching the games live, I think you can pay $2 for downloads from itunes.

I was mostly disappointed that they didn't broadcast the games in hd - would have bought the package otherwise. I'll think about buying the broadband, although I have a crappy laptop that I'm always afraid is going to overheat anytime it streams something.

i use the illegal links for the 1 bucks game a month that isn't broadcast here and for ravens games that we don't get here. I don't feel bad about it because i don't really have a way to pay for them. It would be crazy to pay for lpbb just for 6 games and my cable company doesn't offer the sunday ticket package.

so here i am

I feel the same with things that can't be bought reasonably. One of my favorite investing books has been out of print for a decade, and sells for $1,000 on ebay. I'm not going to pay that ridiculous price when the money doesn't go to the author anyway. I'll also rip out of print CDs or records from friends if you can't buy them at itunes.

If there are foreign fans who have no way to buy league pass, I'll certainly support them in doing what they have to do to watch games. I just don't understand why so many fail to flip the switch back into normal law abiding consumer mode when the league does decide to sell the product at a reasonable price.

I don't think they offer that here. I can't find it in the itunes store anyway.
