TI: Redd to Cavs

Postby Newz on Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:22 pm

So I read this morning that the Cavs owner is freaked that if they do not make The Finals that LeBron will leave. (This trade is assuming that Redd is healthy and plays well when he returns)

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... ch_finals/

It got me thinking that the Bucks have some players that the Cavs could use.

The idea I was thinking of is:

Redd + Warrick + Thomas

for

Z + West + Gibson

Why would the Cavs do it? It gives them more firepower to compete with the other 'top 6' teams that have much more of it than they do. Redd can help carry the offense when LeBron is out of the game. They also have a ton of problems defending perimeter based 4's and Warrick would help them a ton in that area... Even though he isn't a great defender, he can at least get out there on guys like Lewis and Sheed, who the Cavs have no answer for right now. Kurt Thomas would of course take Z's place as the back-up center.

Why would the Bucks do it? To cut a majority of Redd's salary with Z's contract. They would also get a decent replacement as a starter in West who can space the floor and a guy in Gibson who can give us some much needed outside shooting and a legit scoring punch off of the bench.

I honestly think this would be an excellent trade for both teams.

No team considers trading for Redd until he's a valuable expiring next year, IMO

If Redd was healthy, they might consider it. Since he's not, no way.
What draft picks have to say about Milwaukee.....
Yi Jianlian: You''ve got a river. You've got a lake.
Brandon Jennnings: Not a bad town. It's kind of laid back -- a lot of fishing, a lot of boats, a lot of water.

Todd Day: Milwaukee? ...*sighs*....Damn

I think they'd want to keep one of West and Gibson.

This was the one concern I had with it as well, from the Cavs side.

I agree. Those two guys are valuable system guys for them. You have not only the gamble of Redd's health here but the fact that he would be a defensive downgrade from what the crazy leprachaun gives them in tough games.

I think Stephen Jackson is the more likelier target for the Cavs. You can do a a number of smaller trades for him, he's healthy, playoff experienced and fits their defensive nature under Mike Brown.

I don't care who we get back from the Cavs so long as one of them is Z.

That said I don't know if Redd is going to look healthy enough to move for the rest of the year.
This is the signature to be named later.

It'll never happen since Hammond doesn't want to deal within the division.

I'd like to keep Warrick around. He would be a pretty nice bench guy for next year if and when we draft our PF of the future. That is if we can resign him for a longer term contract.

I actually think Hammond would do that trade, even though it's within the division, because he has a few angles from which he can sell it -- making room for younger players, improving flexibility, "you have to give up an all-star to get an all-star," we bought a cemetery and we needed somebody to lurch around at night, etc..
"Forward."

If Cavs are interested in Redd-

Redd & Elson for Z & West works
