OT: Simmons/Book of Basketball

Postby N8Frog on Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:20 pm

Just curious if anybody has read the new Bill Simmons "Book of Basketball" on here yet? I know there are quite a few Simmons fans (and non-fans) on here. I was thinking about getting it, but I don't know much about his books. I don't mind his articles, very entertaining if anything. I didn't venture into his Red Sox book, because I hate Boston sports - which scares me a bit with this book. It seems to be reviewing well on like Amazon. Just wondering if anybody has anything good, bad, etc to say.

I asked about this the day it came out, too. I used to be a big fan but I've ventured away from him in recent years. His books, though, I would think (and have heard) are as good as ever. And seeing as this one isn't Boston sports-centric, I'll be picking it up at some point. Great price for it on Amazon, too. Everyone says to make sure to get the hard copy of it, though, and not an electronic version. There are tons of foot-notes and I guess it's easier to read the actual book.

I still need to finish Lost City of Z.
One down, one to go.

I got the book in the mail a few days ago. From what I've read I like it a lot.

Well maybe it would be a good x-mas gift idea. 700 pages is a long read, but at least he is generally kind of funny and an easy read.
