Miller to start soon?

Postby Spykes on Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:57 pm

What is clear is that so far Miller and the Blazers have yet to mesh. It's to the point where McMillan is beginning to question whether his decision to open the season with Miller as a reserve has thrown Miller into a funk.

McMillan put Miller with the first team for part of Thursday's practice, but said he is still hopeful that Miller can instill some life and speed into the second unit. At the same time, McMillan is wary of waiting too long to get something out of Miller, who has been rather anonymous in the early going, his 11 assists on Tuesday against the Hawks notwithstanding.

joe freemens on twitter says nate says hes looking at changing the lineup tonight, and that he has tell 7 30 to decide when asked when he would know his lineup
also he said miller and nate had a closed door meeting the lasted about 5 minutes
He’s not (my-vydas), he’s not (your-vydas), he’s Arvydas

Hopefully this happens sooner rather than later. The quicker that Miller and Roy figure out how to play together, the better. It would have been nice if they practiced this each preseason game, when the games dont matter. Better late than never

SVG from the wiretap about lewis coming in as a starter. "When you know a guy is going to be there long term, you don't mess around."

wish McMillan would adopt this strategy with miller and oden.

neither PG is playing well right now...it's not like they'd be thrown off by a reshuffling of their roatations, they're already off

There needs to be some decision on this. It's kind of bad timing with Tony Parker in the batter's circle

Listen, Greg should just go Manu with the Bat on Tony tonight and take him out with one foul so he can save himself the trouble of getting two within a minute because Blake is torched.

We saw a few interesting post-practice drills that I can't remember seeing so far this year.

First, we saw Roy, Miller and Blake working on lob passes to both Aldridge and Oden under McMillan's personal instruction. The big men were being fronted and were instructed to spin and seal their defender away from the basket. The pass was then thrown right next to the rim, designed to be caught for an alley oop or quick catch and power-up move.

It is well known that Miller is a great lob passer, and it is interesting that he was getting time (along with Roy and Blake) drilling lo passes with Oden and Aldridge, Rather than Fernandez and Outlaw (The most likely recipients of that pass on the "second unit") this along with Nates comments about having till 7:30 to announce his lineup, makes me think that change is on the horizon.

I am forced to assume that that was the first time Nate has ever practiced a wing to post pass. It should be a above the fold headline in the Oregonian. 'Nate practices the post pass, Blazer fans rejoice!'

3 years is pretty long term when talking support players. He's not a one year rental, ala Howard.

His final year is only a TO tho. Blazers could use Miller as a expiring contract next season.

He's fairly short-term when you think about it.
