Dallas trade idea

Postby Piston Pete on Fri Nov 06, 2009 10:59 pm

Going off of the wiretap story about Dampier, if we're out of it come the New Year, would you guys make this deal?

TO DALLAS:
SG Rip Hamilton
PF Jason Maxiell
PF/C Chris Wilcox

TO US:
C Erick Dampier (expires same year as Prince)
PF Drew Gooden (expires after this season)
PF Shawn Williams (expires after this season)
Future 1st round pick

Dallas immediatly becomes a contender in the West with:

Kidd / Terry
Rip / Howard / Terry
Marion / Howard
Dirk / Maxiell / Thomas
Wilcox / Humphries / Dirk

Does Dallas having any future 1sts? I thought they moved them all in the Kidd trade.

Also, Dampier will expire this year if he doesn't meet certain requirements. So he would also be expiring this season. I doubt they move all their expirings for our two worst contracts.

What are the requirements for Damp to expire this season versus next?

You don't think Cuban would trade expirings for Rip?

Make an all-star team or play so many games/minutes. He won't do either, or even come close.

And no, I don't. He's got quite a bit of money invested in his 1/2/3 and they're not exactly young. You'd have to find minutes for Kidd, Terry, Hamilton, Howard, and Marion. It's just like the mess we're in, only they're probably better top to bottom, but that leaves their C rotation as absolutely awful. It's not particularly strong now, either.

The only way they move Damp for Rip is if they can move one of their other wings for a big man. And I just don't see that happening.

I suppose your right....

Still love the 3-way getting us Kaman, Rip to Dallas, and Howard to the Clips.....

Then we could trade Prince to Portland for Rudy, Webster, and Outlaw....

Stuckey / Bynum
Gordon / Rudy
Webster / Outlaw / Daye
CV / Maxiell / Wilcox
Kaman / Wallace / Brown

2 things:

1. Dallas would rather keep Kaman.
2. Portland's usual crap offer is still garbage, with that out of the way Rudy is not worth Prince.
