Arron Afflalo pistons gave up on him to early

Postby kellmellus50 on Sat Nov 07, 2009 8:15 am

Arron Afflalo last 3 games scores 15+15+18 pts , i alway liked this guy and thought the pistons never reall gave him a chance. we traded him to free up money for wilcox who was a bust and then we signed atkins who has done nothing also to take his place.

The Pistons didn't give up on Afflalo. They needed some big bodies more than anything else.

Pistons didn't give up on him, Dumars signed Gordon before having a deal for Hamilton in place. And Dumars decided to draft three more SF's along with signing Gordon. On second thought Dumars did give up on Afflalo.

Lalo could have a Raja Bell-type career.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

I was and still am a big AA fan.

In reality it was one of Bynum or AA that had to go, and Bynum can run point so he stayed.

AA would have been completely out of the rotation here.

Maybe when Prince expires in 2011 he'll look to sign AA as an RFA.

Dude would have been the 5th guard on this team. As mentioned above somebody had to go, and Lalo had the least value of any of them (Factoring both value to Detroit and value on the trade market).

I'd have kept as the 5th guard and tried to trade Rip at some point, then promote him to 4th guard. I remain a huge AA fan and I'd rather we kept him and played him at the 4 if necessary rather than sign Wilcox, who appears completely worthless so far.

do you see how many minutes he needs for that kind of production? Not worth it. Once J.R. gets back, Aaron will be back on role player status.

I´m fan of AA, he is getting minutes in Denver............

The main problem is that we got nothing in this trade with Denver.Last February OKC offered Pistons a 1st round pick for Arron or Amir Johnson but Dumars did not accept .....

We only traded Arron & Amir for cap space...................

Uh, I REALLY don't believe OKC offered a first rounder for either of these guys.

OKC gave up a first for Thabo so its believable- you have to remember that they had 5 total first picks for the 2009/2010 drafts. If true it would have been one of the late 1sts by way of Denver or San Antonio.

Id actually prefer having Arron and Amir over Bynum and Wilcox.

oh man, Afflalo would have been the perfect guy to play behind Gordon. I honestly thought that when we signed Gordon, Rip was gone and my boy would have been coming off the bench along with Bynum in the 2nd unit. Man that would have been awesome...

He can play D so he'll be in the league for a long time and now he's providing good offense. Its a shame, i was really high on him and WIlcox being the completely useless sack of doodoo he has been, makes me even madder that Afflalo had to go...

my past two fav Pistons are now on the Nuggets... not cool at all. At least my new fav shouldnt be going anywhere soon (Gordon) :fingers crossed:

Oh, they had later picks? I didn't know they had more than the two.

As for Amir/Arron vs Will/Wilcox, I kind of agree, though Bynum is probably the best of the four.
