This week saw the much anticipated match-up of the Boston Celtics versus Detroit Pistons . The Celtics avenged their earlier loss to the Pistons by taking it to the Eastern Conference powerhouse. This victory enabled the Boys from Beantown to take the top spot in the RealGM Team Rankings for the first time this season. The biggest rise in the rankings this week goes to the red-hot LeBron Jam --- err, Cleveland Cavaliers (up from No. 20 to No. 11) while the biggest drop belongs to the struggling Indiana Pacers (No. 14 to No. 22), who dropped six spots this week.

The format is simple. The rankings reflect each team’s current ranking, along with their ranking from the last week (LW).

1. (4) Boston Celtics 29-3

Boston regained the top spot by going into Detroit and ending the Pistons' dominant eleven game winning streak.

2. (3) Detroit Pistons 26-8

Detroit was just ripping through teams until Boston walked in to take away the top spot in this week's RealGM rankings.

3. (5) Phoenix Suns 24-10

The Suns shredded the Nugget defense, scoring 46 in the first quarter and 78 in the first half. They have won five of their last six.

4. (2) Dallas Mavericks 23-11

Dirk has been nasty as the Mavs have won eight of their past ten, posting 24.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks over his last five.

5. (1) San Antonio Spurs 23-10

The Spurs have looked ordinary the past week, going 3-3 with its only wins against the lowly Knicks, Grizzlies, and Clippers.

6. (8) Portland Trail Blazers 21-13

The Blazers have lost only once since December 3. Who else can't wait for their January 16 matchup in Boston?

7. (6) New Orleans Hornets 23-11

Back-to-back wins on the road against the Warriors and Lakers prove that this team is for real in the West.

8. (7) L.A. Lakers 22-11

Derek Fisher has been the straw that stirs the drink this year for the Lakers, especially after his 10 of 11 shooting night for 26 points vs. the Grizz.

9. (10) Denver Nuggets 21-13

The Answer has aged well in the Mile High City, leading the team with 27.1 points, 6.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

10. (11) Golden State Warriors 20-15

Will this year's edition of the First Round Warriors knock out the Spurs this year? They are 2-0 so far against the defending champs.

11. (20) Cleveland Cavaliers 18-17

Cleveland (I mean, Lebron) has turned on the jets this past week as the Cavs are winners of six of their last seven.

12. (13) Utah Jazz 19-17

The Jazz put their 13-3 home record to the test this week as they play host to the surging Suns and the road-warrior Magic.

13. (9) Orlando Magic 22-14

Three straight losses and a 7-8 home record make me want to fall asleep rather than turning on a Magic game.

14. (19) New Jersey Nets 17-17

The Nets are starting to look pretty decent with seven wins in their past nine games. Sean Williams has become a force in the paint on D.

15. (18) Houston Rockets 18-17

With McGrady on the shelf, the Rockets are 5-2…why not trade him while his value is still booming?

16. (15) Toronto Raptors 17-17

The Raps have severely missed the production from their scrappy Spaniard Jorge Garbajosa this season.

17. (16) Washington Wizards 17-16

The rock of the team Antawn Jamison continues to impress in his contract year with 21.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

18. (12) Atlanta Hawks 15-16

A rough week for the Hawks (0-4) may take a turn for the better as Shelden Williams is seen looking for an upgrade over his carjacked Chrysler.

19. (21) Sacramento Kings 13-20

John Salmons has been straight ballin' since being inserted into the starting lineup. He has been putting up 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.4 steals per game over his last five.

20. (24) Milwaukee Bucks 14-20

Don’t expect much this week as the Bucks take their 5-15 road record to LA Lakers, Phoenix, and Utah.

21. (17) Philadelphia 76ers 14-21

Kyle Korver got the best of his former team as he delivered 14 points in 11 minutes as the Jazz defeated the struggling Sixers.

22. (14) Indiana Pacers 16-20

The Pacers continue to wait until Jermaine O'Neal's trade value plummets along with their postseason hopes.

23. (23) Charlotte Bobcats 12-21

J-Rich has been earning his insane salary this week as he is averaging 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over his past five games.

24. (26) Memphis Grizzlies 10-24

The return of Mike Conley instantly makes this team much more enjoyable to watch.

25. (25) Seattle Supersonics 9-25

The Sonics have lost four straight, but how about Kurt Thomas and his 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game this year.

26. (22) Chicago Bulls 13-20

The Bulls actually allowed Eddy Curry to post 29 points, 8 rebounds, and FOUR BLOCKS in a home loss to New York. They need to shake things up.

27. (28) L.A. Clippers 10-21

The Clippers just need to pull a 1996-97 Spurs and tank the season with the injuries to Elton Brand and Shaun Livingston to get a great young pick to add to their core when those two return.

28. (30) Minnesota Timberwolves 5-29

At least the Timberwolves have many trade assets and talented young players.

29. (27) Miami Heat 8-27

Please blow this team up, it's getting ridiculous to watch Chris Quinn dump the ball in to Mark Blount.

30. (29) New York Knicks 9-24

The Knicks got slaughtered at home by the Kings with no Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, or Kevin Martin. They are awful now and worst of all, they have no future.
