Player: Season FIC (FIC Per 40 Minutes)

1. Al Horford: 553 (12.9)

I believed Mike Conley should have been Atlanta’s pick with the third overall pick, and I’m still not convinced that wouldn’t have been the right decision for the franchise, but Horford is the clear rookie of the year leader.

He has been extremely consistent and should help the Hawks get back into the postseason.

2. Kevin Durant: 465 (10.2)

While Michael Beasley turns in a Big 12 freshman season as impressive as Durant’s a season ago, the Sonics’ rookie continues to be the streaky volume scorer many expected him to be. He shot just 36.7 percent from the field in February as he continues to have way too many 4-17, 7-21, and 6-26 shooting nights.

With more realistic expectations next season, Durant will be an early candidate for most improved player because whomever the Sonics select with their top-five pick will make his life incredibly easier.

3. Jamario Moon: 464 (12.5)

Who would have thought a former Harlem Globetrotter, Albany Patroon, and Gary Steelhead would have virtually the same level of season productivity as Durant and better per 40 minute productions?

Moon has improved his shooting with each month of the season and in February shot 40% from 3-point territory.

4. Luis Scola: 380 (12.1)

Scola has been impressive all season long and clearly has a new level of importance due to the injury of Yao Ming. Scola has put up his best level of production in February, scoring 11.4 points on 61.9% shooting and grabbing 6.0 rebounds.

5. Yi Jianlian: 362 (9.9)

Yi’s performance has declined substantially from his impressive month of December. He averaged less than 20 minutes per game and 6.4 points on 42.6% shooting in February.

6. Sean Williams: 354 (13.4)

Williams is second in the NBA in blocks per 48 minutes with 4.23, although he is averaging less than 1 per game in February as offensive players become more aware of the rookie’s presence.

7. Juan Carlos Navarro: 338 (9.1)

Like Scola and Horford, Navarro has been very consistent, although his shooting percentage dipped to 35.3 for the month of February.

8. Thaddeus Young: 284 (12.3)

Young has broken out since his minutes began to climb after the first of the year. In February, he is averaging 11.1 points on 58% shooting in 29 minutes per game.

9. Jeff Green: 273 (7.8)

Green had been a relative disappointment, but he has busted out in February. Green has averaged 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds for the month, showing that multi-dimensional game everyone knew he had coming out of Georgetown.

10. Joakim Noah: 272 (13.3)

In Noah’s first game post-Ben Wallace, he was 7 of 11 for 14 points with 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.

11. Al Thornton: 269 (8.9)

Since his January 30th outburst for 33 points against Atlanta, Thornton has scored double-figures in 13 of 14 games.

12. Mike Conley: 224 (11.9)

Conley has a 3.00 assist/TO ratio and has been very good since coming back from injury.

13. Corey Brewer: 198 (6.5)

Brewer’s per 40 FIC is clearly disappointing, and he is shooting just 34.7 for the season. You have to at least hand it to Minnesota to keep running Brewer out there and let him improve on the job although they don’t have too many other options as it is.

14. Jared Dudley: 197 (11.6)

Dudley has had his minutes upped in February to 22 per night and has responded by averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

15. Jason Smith: 180 (8.6)

Smith has tailed of lately and has not been much of a factor.

16. Carl Landry: 168 (17.7)

Landry is shooting a terrific 62.7% from the floor and has been crucial to the Rockets since Rick Adelman upped his minutes.
