Okay, I need some help from you readers on a non-sports' related question. I’ve googled the crap out of thi, and have yet to find a concrete answer. Was Black Sabbath’s song ‘Iron Man’ inspired by the Marvel comic book character?

I know it wasn’t the other way around because Iron Man debuted in a Marvel comic seven years before Ozzy Osbourne wrote the song, but the only material I can find on the subject comes from Wikipedia. And we all know that’s about as reliable as finding something on the bathroom wall.

Stephon Marbury may be getting crazier by the minute, as he contends that his heart is still in New York. I don’t know if he’s trying to increase his stock, his standing with Mike D’Antoni, or his ‘Q’ rating, but either way he’s failing on all accounts.

Trevor Ariza returned to practice for the Lakers on Tuesday and could play as soon as next week, if Los Angeles hasn’t gone fishing by then (not likely). Assuming Phil Jackson can properly work him into the rotation, his defense will only make the Lakers a stronger title contender.

Comparing The Ages Of Previous Dynasties, by Brandon Hoffman.

Danny Ainge was named the Executive of the Year in the NBA on Wednesday, what a crazy world we live in, huh? Not even a year ago this guy seemed to be on the verge of getting fired and was the laughing stock of all front offices in this very web space. One trade (yes, I’m talking about the Kevin Garnett one) can really change the world. Danny, I suggest you send a ‘thank you’ card to Mr. McHale.

Robert Horry broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for most playoff games played on Tuesday night in San Antonio’s loss in New Orleans. There is certainly something to be said about his historic postseason career, but opportunity has been a huge factor as well.

Memphis Grizzlies : Lottery Summit, by Andrew Perna & The RGM Grizzlies Forum.

Larry Bird has sued the owners of his former French Lick house for using his name on their bed-and-breakfast. Imagine if your name had that kind of pull, damn. Does anyone want to open up Andrew Perna’s Inn?

Greg Oden returned to the basketball courts of Lawrence North High School earlier this week while doing some work for Topps. I’m not even a Portland fan, but I’m extremely excited to see how things play out for the Blazers next season. A playoff berth should be expected even in the tough Western Conference.

Minnesota Timberwolves : The Lottery Summit, by Andrew Perna & The RGM Timberwolves Forum.

Barry Bonds is now facing fourteen perjury charges stemming from the suspicion that he lied under oath regarding his use of steroids and his relationship with BALCO. I don’t think this news is going to help him find a ballpark to play in this season.

Jacque Jones wants to play for the Florida Marlins. The only problem is that he doesn’t have the power to make that decision, just yet. The Tigers have the option to trade or release him by Friday, and even after that the Marlins would have to want him…

Giants' managing partner Peter Magowan is expected to step down on Friday, according to a few reports surfacing on the West Coast. It’s too bad San Francisco can’t get Barry Zito to sell off his stake (salary) in the team and bid the city goodbye.

Pitcher Jon Garland can’t see himself returning to the White Sox, even though he will become a free agent this offseason. Chicago let the hurler walk in the past, and he appears to feel slighted by their decision. I don’t know Jon, I’d be thrilled if a Major League team wanted my services...wait…do the White Sox even want him back?

Eric Gagné is closing for the Brewers once again, after taking a two-day “mental break” from the stressful gig. No, put your mouse down and step away from the computer. Whatever you do, do NOT pick him up in your league…

Joe Horn wants to be traded from the Falcons, and understandably so. I think his old buddies the Saints should put in an offer for him. He’s wily and the Saints could use someone to help counsel their young pass-catchers.

Terrell Suggs and the Ravens have reached a compromise on their issues regarding the franchise tag the team placed on him in February. Apparently they are considering him a defensive end/linebacker, a position that will earn him more money this season.

Titans' running back LenDale White played the entire 2007 season with a torn meniscus, a pretty admirable move. Remember when he was coming out of USC, and people questioned his toughness? By the way, Reggie Bush posted 581 yards on 157 carries and four rushing touchdowns last season. White had 1,110 yards on 303 carries for seven scores.

The Raiders and Chiefs are reportedly interested in the services of Koren Robinson, who was recently-released by the Packers. He appears to have righted the ship known as his life, and wouldn’t be a bad option for either team – assuming he doesn’t infect the young talent.

Seattle linebacker Lofa Tatupu was arrested for drunken driving over the weekend, but immediately issued what seemed like a sincere apology to his friends, family, and fans. Hopefully, for both Tatupu and the Seahawks, this turns out to be an aberration.

The Flyers will be battling for their playoff lives against the Penguins on Thursday night in Philadelphia. I really felt as though they were going to come home and make a statement on Tuesday night, but instead Pittsburgh took the words right out of their mouths.

The Bruins signed Chuck Kobasew to a multi-year extension on Tuesday following a break-out season. It’s a good time to be both a player, and a fan, in Beantown. And that really grinds my gears…

This footage gives me bone-chilling memories of his block on Reggie…
