I debuted my 2008 fantasy football preseason rankings on Wednesday – just scroll down a little bit to click the direct link – and I’m planning to feature a mailbag column in the not-so-distant future.

Send me an e-mail with any fantasy football related question and I could feature your query in the aforementioned mailbag piece!

Team USA knocked off Australia on Wednesday to advance in the medal round. The Aussies gave the Americans a battle in the first quarter, but the blowout started in the second. I can almost taste the gold.

Jason Kidd wanted out of New Jersey because they didn’t seemed interested in giving him a huge extension, but nothing is imminent in Dallas either. It’s a little different when you’re in the postseason and without a long-term deal than when you’re headed to the Lottery.

Oklahoma City waived Donyell Marshall in a cost-cutting move on Wednesday, but I don’t expect the former UConn star to be without a home for long. He’ll fit in nicely with a contender for a minimum deal.

Danny Granger could receive a similar deal to the one Philadelphia gave Andre Iguodala last week, but actually, I think he’ll get somewhere around $70 million over six years ($10M less than A.I.). I’d look for the Pacers to extend Granger by the end of September.

Andre Miller could be next in line to receive an extension from the 76ers, as he has just one year left on his current deal. The only problem? Miller doesn’t have an agent right now. If Andre wants to get paid, he’d better sign one.

The Mavericks agreed to a two-year deal with forward Devean George on Wednesday, which is a surprising move considering how the season ended for him in 2007-08. He refused to go to New Jersey in a trade, almost costing Dallas the services of Jason Kidd.

Jimmy Rollins continues to make friends in Philadelphia, claiming that free agents are never intrigued about playing in the city. I’m not sure why J-Roll keeps digging his grave deeper and deeper, but he’d better focus on the NL East race.

Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 609th home run of his career on Wednesday, tying him for fifth on the all-time list alongside Sammy Sosa. I’d be beating a dead horse if I said that a healthy Griffey would have been the all-time home run king right now, but it’s the truth.

With closer Billy Wagner’s season in doubt, the Mets could look towards either Huston Street or Brian Fuentes. Street appears to be the more likely option, especially with the Rockies lingering in the NL playoff picture. New York may be leading their division now, but without a serviceable closer – forget it.

MLB umpires decided to boycott a conference call with officials to discuss instant replay, citing their own personal interests. I can see why umps would be a little bitter, with replay in place solely to make sure they are good enough to do their jobs, but ultimately it’s best for the game.

Anquan Boldin is fed up in Arizona and has officially asked to be traded to another team. The Eagles have to make a play for Boldin, if you ask me, offering Lito Sheppard and maybe even a draft pick to the Cardinals for the talented receiver.

Kevin Curtis will miss some significant time with the Eagles after he has surgery for a sports hernia. Quarterback Donovan McNabb had a similar injury take him off the field a few seasons ago, which can’t make Philadelphia feel too well. All the more reason why they should pursue Boldin!

Rams running back Steven Jackson has reportedly ended his holdout by flying to St. Louis on Wednesday to discuss a new deal. That’s good news for Rams' owners and fantasy football owners.

Take it very seriously…
