11/07/01: The Wizards bought out Loy Vaught's contract. His remaining salary will continue to count against the team's cap. Vaught announced his retirement due to back problems.
02/22/01: Dallas traded Christian Laettner, Loy Vaught, Etan Thomas, Hubert Davis and Courtney Alexander to Washington for Juwan Howard, Calvin Booth and Obinna Ekezie. As a result of this trade, Washington also gained a Traded Player Exception of $1,471,432.
10/17/00: Detroit traded Loy Vaught to Dallas in return for Dana Barros and Ansu Sesay. There were many factors effecting whether this trade would go through or not. Barros had been traded earlier this offseason and could not be moved in a package deal until after 10/16. Sesay was a free agent whose rights had been held by the Mavericks for the last two years. In order to be traded, he had to be re-signed to at least a 3 year contract (only the first year needs to be guaranteed) for 20% greater than the minimum. Vaught had a trade kicker in his contract that would increase his salary by 15% if traded. In order for this particular trade to go through, he had to agree to waive his trade kicker.
