Dikembe Mutombo signed a 4-year, $65 million contract with Philadelphia. The contract includes a 15% trade kicker.

Anthony Carter signed a 3-year, $12 million contract with Miami.

Christian Laettner signed a 4-year, $21 million contract with Washington.

Nazr Mohammed signed a 5-year, $28.5 million contract with Atlanta.

Horace Grant signed a 3-year, $7.7 million contract with Orlando. He was given part of the Middle-Class Exception.

Avery Johnson signed a 3-year, $15 million contract with Denver. He was given all of the Middle-Class Exception.

Dan Majerle signed a 1-year, $1 million contract with Phoenix. The team is only responsible for $590,850

The Pacers signed their first round pick, Jamal Tinsley. He was signed to a 3-year contract worth $2,416,080 with a team option for the fourth year worth $1,554,326.

The Memphis Grizzlies traded Shareef Abdur Rahim to the Atlanta Hawks for Lorenzen Wright, Brevin Knight and the rights to the #3 pick in the 2001 draft, Pau Gasol. As a result of this trade, the Grizzlies received a Traded Player Exception of $1,125,000.

The Chicago Bulls traded Brian Skinner to the Raptors for Charles Oakley. As a result of the trade, Oakley's trade kicker increased his salary to $7,330,000 and the raptors received a Traded Player Exception of $5,061,539 which must be used within one year.

The Trail Blazers traded Greg Anthony to the Bulls for a second round pick (supposedly, this will be the pick received from Toronto in the Oakley/Skinner trade). The Blazers would receive a Traded Player Exception of $3,940,000.

Aaron McKie signed a 7-year, $35.5 million contract with Philadelphia. With bonuses, the contract could be worth $42 million.

Doug Christie signed a 7-year, $48.1 million contract with Sacramento. The first 6th year is partially guaranteed and the 7th is not guaranteed.

Tyronn Lue signed a 2-year, $3.6 million contract with Washington.

Eddie Robinson signed a 5-year, $31.2 million offer sheet with Chicago. Charlotte now has 15 days to match the offer and retain Robinson. The starting salary of the Chicago offer is about $5,205,800 while the most Charlotte can offer with their Early Bird Rights is $ 4,538,000. Unless the Hornets can clear enough cap room to match the offer, Robinson will be a Bull.

Jerome Williams signed a 7-year, $40.8 million contract with Toronto. There is a mutual opt-out for the 7th season.

Clarence Weatherspoon signed a 5-year, $27.2 million contract with the Knicks. He was given the entire Middle-Class Exception.

Popeye Jones signed a 1-year, $1.3 million contract with Washington.

Patrick Ewing signed a 2-year, $ 4.5 million contract with Orlando. He was given part of the Middle-Class Exception.

Milt Palacio signed a 2-year, $1.43 million contract with Boston. He was given part of the Middle-Class Exception.

The Pistons traded Jud Bucheler and John Wallace to Phoenix for Cliff Robinson. As a result of the trade the Suns received a Traded Player Exception of $1,656,250 which must be used within one year.

The New Jersey Nets traded Stephon Marbury, Johnny Newman and Soumaila Samake to the Phoenix Suns for Jason Kidd and Chris Dudley. As a result of this trade, the Suns received another trade exception of $1,349,150 which must be used within one year and may be combined with with the other TPE.

The Nets signed their three first round picks. Richard Jefferson signed a 3 year contract worth $4,448,520. Jason Collins signed a 3 year contract worth $3,442,320. Brandon Armstrong signed a 3 year contract worth $2,792,160. All three players have team option for a 4th season.

Trade: The Wizards traded Charles Oakley and a 2nd round draft pick to the Bulls for Brian Skinner. The trade will be announced on July 18th. As a result of this trade, The Raptors will receive a traded player exception of $5,061,539 which must be used within one year. Also, the trade triggered a tradekicker in Oakley's contract allowing him to earn an additional $700,000.

Trade: The raptors traded the rights to unsigned 2nd round pick Zeljko Rebraca to the Detroit Pistions for a future 2nd round pick.

The Wizards signed their first round pick. Kwame Brown signed a 3 year contract worth $11,924,280 with a team option for a 4th season at $5,361,873.

The Grizzlies signed their second round picks to non-guaranteed contracts. Will Solomon and Antonis Fotsis will received guaranteed salaries if they are on the roster for opening day.

Sacramento signed 1st round pick Gerald Wallace to a three-year rookie contract Friday that will pay him $2.14 million, including $664,900 during his first season and includes a team option for a 4th season at $1,377,045.

Rockets declined to exercise their option on the contract of Carlos Rogers, making him a free agent. Shandon Anderson and Maurice Taylor both declined player options and became free agents.

Wizards waived Mitch Richmond. The Wizards held a buyout on Richmond's contract for $10 million. The Wizards will be charged $5 million for each of the last two seasons of his contract.

Tyrone Hill's agent announced he will not exercise his option to become a free agent. He is now guaranteed through the 02-03 season at $6,600,000 per year.

Memphis signed their first round pick Shane Battier. He was signed to a 3 year contract worth $7,104,720 with a fourth year team option for $3,212,402.

Deseret News reports that Olden Polynice and Danny Manning (Uta) have opted out of their contracts for next year. They are now unrestricted free agents. Utah's John Crotty and John Starks have opted to stay. They are now guaranteed $965,850 and $2,475,000 for 01-02 respectively.
