Rip Hamilton, the Wizards' second leading scorer, is still 10 days away from returning to action. Rip, who has now missed nine games, had hoped to be back for this Saturday's much anticipated match up with the Chicago Bulls. According to the Washington Times, team officials are worried that the groin injury might be recurring because Hamilton had a similar injury during his freshman season with the University of Connecticut. "Rip is a while away," Coach Doug Collins told the Times. "I think he's still 10 days away. His game is so much predicated on speed, and right now he just doesn't have it. We're looking at the long term. I don't want him to have something that is going to be nagging him for a long time. He is one of the cornerstones of our franchise." Hamilton had averaged 24.6 points in the eleven games before his injury, but the Wizards will not rush him back. In other news, Kwame Brown's test results for his fatigue came back negative and team doctors ruled out any major concerns. |
